UP crew just released the first infos about this year's edition.. it will be from the 29th of December until the 3rd of January, in the same location, Pratígi, but in a different part of the beach farm where it is normally held.
This will be UP's last edition in this great location and it will be commemorating it's 10th birthday, so it seems that a killer edition is coming! |

I don't have time to translate to english right now, so if any of the brazilian/portuguese folks want to do that, that will be appreciated. Or maybe the crew will release the english version announcement.
First release (in portuguese):
O Universo Paralello em sua edição especial de 10 anos convida a todos para mais uma vez celebrar o ano novo na encantadora praia de Pratigi, entre os dias 29/12/2009 a 03/01/2010.
Pelo sétimo ano consecutivo o festival será realizado na Praia de Pratigi, município de Ituberá – Bahia. Localizada a 160 km ao sul de Salvador, capital da Bahia, Ituberá situa-se na privilegiada posição entre a Ilha de Boipeba e a península de Barra Grande, dois dos principais cartões postais do Brasil.
Tomados por uma alegria única começamos a preparar a festa de 10 anos do Universo Paralello. Um encontro que pretende resumir todo o encanto de uma década de celebração entre amigos, cercados de arte, cultura alternativa, natureza e muita música. Os 10 anos UP serão comemorados em novo espaço. Uma área inédita dentro da mesma fazenda de sempre, que vai garantir maior segurança ao festival, mantendo toda beleza baiana da Costa do Dendê. Tudo será novidade: a disposição das pistas, nova decoração, praças, feiras, campings, banheiros e chuveiros, assegurando o mesmo tamanho dos espaços assim como a qualidade das estruturas.
No clima de despedida começa agora a festa de 10 anos do Universo Paralello e você é parte fundamental nessa comemoração. Será a ultima edição do festival na região que carinhosamente nos acolheu durante esses anos. Depois de uma série de negociações entre o UP Crew e o poder público de Ituberá ficou decidido, em comum acordo, que essa será a última edição em Pratigi. Vamos então fazer desse encontro um grande ritual, fechando assim um ciclo de muita alegria, confraternização e aprendizado junto ao próximo e a natureza, onde os ritmos se multiplicaram e as sensações se unificaram numa só frequência.
Iniciaremos a venda dos ingressos dia 1º de setembro. A partir de agosto todos os pontos de vendas, agências de viagem, excursões e pousadas estarão anunciados em nosso site.

Welcome to Universo Paralello #10
For our special 10-year-anniversary edition, Universo Paralello invites everyone to celebrate the New Year once again in the enchanted Pratigi Beach, from December 29, 2009 to January 03, 2010.
For the seventh consecutive year the Festival will be held in Pratigi Beach, in the county of Ituberá, in the state of Bahia. Ituberá lies 160 km south of Salvador, the capital of Bahia, and sits in a privileged site between the Island of Boipeba and the Barra Grande Peninsula, two of Brazil’s most enticing and unspoiled postcards.
Overwhelmed by a very unique feeling of joy, we have begun the preparations for Universo Paralello’s 10-year-anniversary party. This is a gathering that will synthesize all the magic of a whole decade of celebration among friends, surrounded by art, alternative culture, nature and a whole lotta music! With the objective of preserving our essence and keeping the innovative spirit alive and kicking, some quality changes have been made.
As of this edition, the Festival will be held every two years. We wish to safeguard all that has been created in this decade of celebration. The 10-year-anniversary edition of Universo Paralello will be commemorated in a completely new space – the same size as the previous editions but with even better quality. A novel area (still on the same farm) will provide us with greater security and an unbelievable dancefloor, with all the beauty the Dende Coast of Bahia has to offer. Everything will be new: the layout of the dance floors, the deco, fairs, food malls, camping sites, bathrooms and showers.
In a sort of farewell mood the 10-year-anniversary Universo Paralello party now begins and you are a crucial part of this celebration. This will be the last edition of the Festival in the region that welcomed us with such an open heart for all these years. After a series of negotiations between the UP crew and the Public Power of Ituberá, it was commonly decided that this will be the last edition in Pratigi. Let’s make this gathering a great ritual, closing a cycle of extreme joy, sharing and learning along with our human fellows and nature itself, where rhythms multiply and all sensations unify in a single frequency.
Soon, more detailed info about the preparations and attractions of this great gathering. For now, we wish to welcome everyone, once again, to Universo Paralello.

One more year on the beach. I have spoken to swarup in these last few days and he`s promised great things about the new festival. More safety precautions and of course great music. Good luck to the UP crew and hope to see you all there again for the new year |
