universal audio uad ?

Does any of you use the universal audio uad-1 card and plugins ? I've seen a nice offer for uad-1 card + 1176 + L2A2 for 170 €.
What does it bring to your mixes that the native plugin cannot offer ? Is it worth it for psytrance considering the native plugin offer? I've found some examples on internet but nothing psytrance specific.
I'm surely victim of UAD marketing...but I don't know ?

The UAD cards have hands-down the best sounding compressors and EQs, the only way you'll be able to top it is with hardware. A lot of other quality software is available for these cards - but cannot be pirated. I think that if you're investing in a UAD card, perhaps the Neve 88rs channel strip is a great addition.
And yes - while I don't own one, this baby us a very good investment for psytrance, if only for the serious aid these plugins can give at the mixdown level.

if youre gonna use it only for the 1176 and L2 and a couple of EQs ,this would be enough
but consider (the only disadvantage with UAD-1) that theres a limited number of plugins you can use because of insufficient DSP power
For example if you load the Neve Strip (you have to buy it of course first & costs extra money- much extra) youll be able to use ONLY this plugin and i think only 1!! instance cause it is a very heavy and consuming plugin
if you go only for the couple of compressors then i think you'll be find , i ve heard and read only best words about those two emulations & how great they are
Else the best imho , if you want a really full functional setup with lots of plugins, keep money, gather more and go for the UAD-2 now that its ready
even the one DSP new card has 2.5 times more processing power than UAD-1 and they have made three versions of 1, 2 and 4 DSP's cards
one or the other they are brilliant plugins with excellent algorithms and my next investment too
