They're awesome..best digital processing out there. I wouldn't go for UAD 2 yet though.

If you only want DSP compressors and EQs, Focusrite Liquid Mix is a lot better though. They're slightly different than some of the UAD ones because they're modeled after different versions, but they're still really nice. UAD has more diverse fx available, but if you're only using it for compression and EQing you would need at least two UAD 1 cards to get the same processing as you would with Liquid Mix. It's also nice that it's portable and firewire (although latency makes it impossible to use live).           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

I had the Liquid Mix, but I sold it. I have only UAD now. I think it sounds better, but i may be a matter of taste. Don't know.

Anyway do a search here. there has been a lot of talk about UAD1 here. Many opinions as well as tech infos all already given here.           Most of my music for you to download at:

im more & more thinking about the Duende from SSL as well , maybe the small one
does anybody have experience by the sound
i know its only eq and compressor but it must be better than the Waves SSl series and the amount of plugins that you can use is fair enough and much more than the UAD 1,
its difficult decision

its kinda more "punchy" than UAD i heard...but for ur bucks u got only that classic british SSL sound, whereas in UAD u got plenty of sonic wayz...           Psy stuff : myspace.com/neyaprod

gutter i have the small one,but better to get the pcie now cause you got the 32 mono slot and the bus comp for 530 euro (would cost 1000 euro on the mini with the updates) ,the plugs are good to get a clear and punchy mix .

i would recomend them only to go legit thought cause native are good enought if you don't make money with production. but they are definetly some of the best plugs i used and not so expensive ( i have x-comp and x-eq too )

if you buy one make sure you can return it cause it don t work for lot of ppl, also it need his own firewire bus for the mini .(and it don t work with all the firewire chipset)

I have the UAD Xpander for my laptop and the way i work is i get about two tracks heavily processed out of it before it overloads. So i typically work this way and then get to my desired sound and then export to audio and move on to the next. This could be looked at as negative however it helps me move onto new sounds quickly. Mixing is a buit more tricky and i leave it till the very end where i uses about 4-6 different busses with slight processing to seperate the mix elements

My tracking channel strip is usually

Comporessor
Reverb (plate or dreamverb_havent uses real verb yet)
EFX (DDL, Chorus, moog filter, transient designer etc)
EQ 1_Neve is my fav for warmth (1073 or 1081)
EQ2_ Cambridge EQ for surgical work

I'm looking for UAD-2 card to suit my needs in my studio, but problem there is no so much information about power use.

I think would use atleast 20 cambridge of them in every channel as high pass filter. + for compression + reverb.

can you tell you experiences using UAD-2 in basic production cos i there is just information 2x of UAD-1 power, 5x UAD-1 and so on. hehe

thanks mates again.

Instead of using 20 cambridge instances why don't you make group tracks & have a couple of them instead?

Check out the UAD forum, there's lots of info there on how many instances will run on the different cards:
