Hey there people,

i just got a copy of the mushroom magazine, and to tell you the truth i always like to read this magazine as i think it purely projects the scene that we are now following through the music and the culture we are in. When i got it this time it looked more like a psyfashion magazine with lots of kind of cyborg hippy clothes and there was even a list of things that someone should take with him to a festival! Amazing to me it looks just like going for a honey moon or a holiday in summer were you go to a most comfortable festival were even your mummy can come and enjoy herself! Ah forget the drugs everybody is smiling the sun is shining, the music is pumuping yeah let's have fun kind of thing or why not a picnic also lolol!

In my opinion it's now completely an uncontrollable situation. The people are lead into this scene from material things like clothes and glow stuff. The music is by far too much, i see too many festivals and parties with so many dj's and live sets! I couldn't beleive my eyes! I really look at this magazine and i really really don't feel part of this anymore. I feel that what my friends and me are part of is a completely different story, a story built on love respect music travelling friendship nature & beautiful experiences together!

So what do you think about this situation, do you see it like me? what is your opinion about it? I mean nothing is wrong with this kind of scene it's just not my kind of thing that's all, so if you are bored and read this maybe you can help me understand were is trance today?

          Boom :)

Nothing uncontrollablle about it imo. Its only nature taking its course and I suppose its better to move ahead with the times. and the times are commercial. one cant do shit without money and going slightly commercial to keep the industry alive isnt such a bad thing. isnt it labels selling all that fluoro gear anyway? those days of the pure vibe and feeling the music are over. its about how much coke can you snort , what hippy gear you are wearing and how big a stud you are!! which isnt such a good thing so to speak but thats how it is nowadays and it is the truth whether you want to believe it or not.

Havent read the mushroom magazine . If it provides info to the unsuspecting raver crowd , i think its
doing a good job. does it provide info about dj / artist equipment ? loads of festivals means more people getting oriented with the vibe and becoming part of the tribe. look it like any big religion : the people in this culture as its followers, magazines as guides, music as the fuel , the decor as the engine and the dancefloor as the vehicle for your trip through outer space!

That love and magic will never cease to exist no matter how this music is marketed. technology / glow stuff or materialism , if you want to call it that, can actually do wonders for this scene. Think about a trippy party with black lights , people in fluro clothing everywhere , state of the art soundscaping and equipment , crazy decor , and yet to be invented software as we know it. I think it will be amazing. Waddaya think ?

The material or the external reality is just a portal to the internal reality.. some people will go deep and cross the portal and some will not.           (( ( mAnDaLa eChOs ) )) http://soundcloud.com/mandala-echos

Well I am 18 years old and you can say that I am a part of the new wave of commercial shit around and who knows what(disgusting) but I must say that I think that you are totally wrong. I started going to parties and i fell inlove with this kind of life and music, when things were a little different,4 years ago.

The "industry" as you call it stays alive with spirit, not with money. You know, there is a thin line between commercial and good experience free of commercial pressure and you cross it when you start making parties for money.

And when does psy people started to care what are they wearing?!Psy culture is not a phase,it is not a fashion place,it is not the kind of fun that you have to spend lots of money on stimulants to feel happy. It is about going to villages full with people from all around the world sharing the same ideas,it is about feeling comfortable with those strangers and sharing smiles, a smile I repeat, that money can't buy.

This sounds like a fairytale foe ravers, but doesn't a party in the forest(decors is wanted but not needed in beautiful surroundings) with the sun shining from above, and the music mixes with the one from the birds, isn't better?Only I must agree about the software and hardware improvement in order to get a better sound. But a good musician would handle any kind of sound,so the vibe stays the most important. For good vibe, you need good habits and proper introduction in the psy world in order to feel it's essence. And so we came back to Soul Kontakt's subject. Not proper education and guidelines for the youngsters just acknowledging the scene-no good manners-no good vibe.

the year now is 2008, trance was invented in the early 90's, almost 20 years have passed!

there is something like a million festivals and a zillion parties every summer all over the world

the days of underground has long gone... wake up

trance today is just another kind of mainstream music that many people like (more then you think)

things have changed in the last few years, i think for the good

and to all you people that still think that psytrance is a super underground music, get out from your bubble, its not, its everywhere!

It is not mainstream yet... actually compare it to real mainstream music and crowds.... its nowhere there!

yeah, it's terrible if somebody actually can have fun, enjoy the music and other people, find a spiritual connection without drugs.
very alarming indeed!

snap out of it. no love and respect to be found in your posts. either adjust to the situation or create your own "true" scene.

I share your opinion to some degree..but why the suprise?
Mushroom mag has been like this for a long, long time....maybe 10 years ago it was a good read when it was fatter, had some intersting articles and most importantly when was free at every headshop/growshop etc.
At least it worked as a source of information concerning parties, festivals and releases in times where this information was not 100% available online like it is now with large communities etc.
I have to disagree that it was a mirror/representation of the psy scene...in 1999 Mushroom mag was already degradingly known as "The Goa-Bravo". (Bravo is an extremly colourful, cheesy, commercial german pop magazine aimed at young teenagers. Here they can learn about pop stars, pimples, and why hair is starting to grow in funny places, im sure you have those wherever you may be living

As for big, comfortable festivals with big killargh line ups....just like mushroom mag these have been around for a long time too...also since at least the 90´s. (If we look at festivals like VooV which have been around for ages and have been continuosly growing pto a certain point. What about Boom? Big line up? Comfortable? Commercial to a certain degree? I guess we can answer all this with yes.......however looking at peoples opinions and the zillions of pages for the festival it cant be all bad.
If I go to such a festival I know what to expect....sure it is not a party with 50 people in the Australian bush or in Goa, sure there is a different vibe, sure the crowd becomes diluted with people who have not discoverd the true psy spirit........however so much good music, variety, beautiful deco, people from around the world make up for this in many ways.

I like both! Big spectacles like http://forum.isratrance.com/008-vii-16-21-germany-fullmoon/

and events where the travel, remote setting etc are part of the whole experience. If you dont like the big events why dont you ignore them and look for underground smashers like this:

http://forum.isratrance.com/008-viii-01-russia-khan-altay-total-solar-eclipse/

http://forum.isratrance.com/008-x-13-15-nepal-shanti-jatra-fullmoon/

Imho there sre still plenty of fests where the original vibe is alive and where all the tthings you where looking for (travel, love, good music, vibe...) can be experienced.
Its not all bad, like people have said in this thread-it is evolution.

Dont be sad And I sure hope the situation is out of control.......t-t-t-time to let go!

I agree with you to an extent but as someone mentioned earlier its about evolution, and change is inevitable. For me personally this whole scene starts at music & ends at music. Im no hippy so i don't wear those clothes, but yet my mind craves psychedelic sound so i just stay home and listen to tunes unless there is an act i enjoy playing at a party. Create your own scene, and stick with it... That way there are no letdowns

'scene'
i dont read mushroom magazine often
i dont even know about 99% of the parties , realeses , artists and crowds of psytrance on the world , hell not even israel i think...
yet many try to tell me im part of this 'scene'
it must be that addiction to isratrance then lolol

i also feel not so connected to the chages this 'scene' is going throu

it changed i stay the same or it stay and i change whatever is right i just not feel its the same movement i got into 10 years ago , not at all.

but that still exist , only not too often assosiated with the 'psytrance' thing
