what do people think? I've only been using a midi keyboard, and a cheap one at that, for my electronic music but when i find some full time work would consider buying a synth.
I won't need anything high end like a Virus TI because it's more a hobby n' adding stuff in to bands who I do some demo recording but this looks like it could be ok value for money and I"ve always like the Nova sound.

from the videos it looks promising. Very cool that it has a software side too. I think it's about if you like how it sounds and if the envelopes are tight. There isn't an audio sample section on the site so I'm just basing it on what I heard in the videos.

saw a live demo at a shop here and was impressed a lot for the price!
I think I'll get one of these in the next few months

For a street price of 599 euro for the Ultranova you could get 2 used Supernova racks. The Ultranova is only monotimbral and the synth engine is based on the Supernova which is 8 parts multitimbral. Yes it now has wavetables but I'm not sure if this is worth the price. Maybe if you want the keys, the audio interface and the soft editor. But synth wise I'd go with a used Supernova I or II or a KS if you want the Novation sound. For a monotimbral digital synth 599e is a lot of money. For this price you could buy a used Supernova/Nova rack and a new Remote 49sl/25sl and you would get a good controller and a multitimbral synth. |

I bought a Supernova rack for 205 GBP on ebay 3 weeks ago, including delivery to Germany.
Novas usually go for 150-170 GBP and Supernovas for around 200 GBP on ebay.co.uk these days.

I live in Australia and the chance of finding a second hand Supernova at all is about 0.0000001%.
This will serve me well as music making for me is a hobby, and this seems like it will be ok value for a hobby synth to be used as my midi keyboard as well.
