BTW
go for pci express, they have greater bandwith and is better. (if you have pci-express ports off course)

Ive been looking into getting either a UAD card or powercore card but am always sceptical about how much better quality the plugins are than native plugs. I use URS compressors & eqs along with Altverb 5 and arts acoustic for reverb. Would any users really recommend it over the plugins i use if cpu usage wasn't an issue? |

ohh they give away 25$ coupons to owners of cards also. i got 2 so thats 50 bucks. Hmm they are forcing me to buy another plugin now as they expire the first april.
Also i see they lowered the prices of some of the plugins! Shopping time

i also considered one UAD and one Liquidmix, but i went for 2 UAD as many people told me the Liquidmix is not at the same level as UAD. I heard the demo on the focusrite HP and its compressor emulations sounds pretty nice though.
These Helios console eq's sounds sweet after what i read

I tested the liquid mix for a week, the comps are not bad but eqs are very far from the pultec in terms of quality, and i tried a lot of different ones. I don't think the liquid mix is that good.

uad is as good as expensive. i am using the middle size version which was around 900 euro. when there is dsp overload, uad works with a nice system, the last plugin you put simply does not work so you dont run into a crash or something.
if i had the choice again though, maybe for the money UAD costs i would buy a secondhand hardware compressor like TLA C1 and use the ok sounding sonalksis software EQ, which looks to me, interfacewise, as an imitation of the UAD cambridge.
tc powercore and uad are both dsp cards but hard to compare, the tc plugs do special things that can be nice, like character, a plug that can give nice definition.
and if you are ready to spend another bucket of money you can get for your poco the sony oxford stuff which should be top of the bill.
when talking about compressors and eq's UAD is much better then the TC stuff. on the other hand TC has nicer reverb imo.

just to let you know that there is an updata soon for the LN1176 for 99$  (thats should be FREE!!)
ppl with the real hardware says that the LN1176 is NOT the real emulation of the unit, so the updata should be very close.
