I toyed with the fairchild, but I don't need yet another compressor - plus I found it
actually quite limited in use, drums mainly.
My UAD essentials list would be:
The black 1176, awesome. Great tone to it.
The Cambridge is my daily surgical EQ - highly recommended.
The Roland space echo is a fantastic effect
---
For some reason, although the prices seem to be lower on the website, when it came to the checkout - it took another 50% off. So, with a $25 voucher, the 1176 came to just $4! I was very happy!
I demo'd the Fatso (which, I don't think works on UAD1) and I couldn't get excited about it, now my demo has run out and I really feel that giving it another go I might like it! They should reset demos randomly like they give out vouchers.
Hopefully, at some point, I might buy an Empirical labs distressor, so probably no need for the Fatso.
