it goes up to 1800€ with all neve plugins included.....10x power of uad 1...wait until tomorrow..i will upload all stuff with prices until 6 pm...

there are 4 types of cards available:
UAD-2 solo, duo and quad, and that is the amount of DSPs that the card will have on board. Each DSP is capable of roughly 2.5x performance of a UAD-1 card.
500 Euro for the solo, 900 for the duo, 1500 for the quad, 300 more for any of the offering for all of the highly regarded Neve series of plugins, which includes up to a 128 channel mixer of 44.1KHz Neve channel strips... emulating the insanely costly mixing decks used in the super-high-end recording studios.
And as everyone knows - UAD plugins are hands-down the best software compressors and EQs... but the big news is the amount of ultra-cheap second hand UAD-1 cards that are soon going to swarm us as every UAD-addict upgrades to the UAD-2 (means: possible super-cheap second hand software with those cards). Happy days.

Seems like the guys at universal audio did it again. I use both the Powercore and the UAD, but i feel much less ripped off by the UAD crew. They just sell their software and hardware for a very reasonable price.
Just imagine... four Quad cards will provide the power of 40 UADS. Gne gne gne... |

Where is the best online shop to order this new version or to check for cheap UAD-1 ??? (international delivery)
I have been thinking of buying a dsp card for a long time ago, i dun have the money for the expensive new versions but i'm interesting in aquiring something affordable.
It is a little tricky to Google for prices n shops, so i'd apreciate your help. |

As far as i´ve researched, the price doesn´t differ that much, i checked guitarcenter.com and sweetwater.com which is based in the us compared to Eu-prices and the price doesn´t differ that much if you include tax and all that. buying a uad 1 card for like 150€ used or getting 40x the processing power ()brand new with PCIe) for 1300€, i know which one id get.

Wow, 10 times the power... but its pretty expensive..
The solo (2.5 times the power) is little more expensive than the UAD-1...
Personally I find the prizing not very fair, considering the power of average CPUs today.
I would have expected the 10 times power for maybe double the prize of the UAD-1 or so. 2.5 times power for same or less than UAD-1 once was.
Anyway it makes TC Powercore look quite stupid, since they recently came out with a poor powercor x2 with lousy 2 times the power of the old powercore. for a massive prize..
But apart from the prize (honestly I'm just pissed because I can't afford it  ) I think thats really great. I love my UAD-1. Plugin prizing is great, customer support too, works flawless.

I'm probably going to sell my UAD-1 now & get a UAD-2 Duo instead.
I think the prices are fair but what i don't like is that you only have until the end of the year to cross-grade all your plugins to UAD-2. After that you will have to pay $25 per plugin for a max of $250, which i feel isn't very fair.
Anyway, if anyone wants to buy new UAD cards then check out www.jrrshop.com. That where i bought mine, you can type 'forum' in the coupon field to get an additional 10% off.

The new SHARC DSP chips they are using on the UAD2 boards are different from the old AGP graphics chip they were using.
I think they are being quite reserved about their advertising. The AVERAGE improvement over UAD1 is 2.5x (for the SOLO card) but up to 5x the power depending on the plugins you are using.
Which if you think about it, is much better. That means with 4x Quad cards you COULD see an improvement of up to 80x the power of a single UAD1 card.
