Hey guys,

So i'm thinking of buying a UAD-1e card but i don't really know which one to go for. Is it better to buy the express pack & then later on purchase the plug-ins separately or just for the the expert pack since it comes with a $750 voucher?

Also i have a Intel DP35DP motherboard which has two slots PCIe x 1 & one slot of PCIe x 16. Does anyone know which format the UAD cards are? Thanks for the help.

express pak is good for begining, later on u get more plugs, remember that u got 14 days testing time for all plugins, so u try them all than decide what u need most, also UAD giving free vouchers sometimes too

PCIe x 1 it's just right for UAD

p.s. forgot to say that UAD is very, very adictive....u can use up to 4 cards on single system

Good choose

it s not addictive it s just you need more card to run more plugs i think it s very bad purchase for the power you get.soon they ll run only 1 plugs per card, maybe it s hapening already?

Thanks for the input wi']['ch. Won't it cost more to buy the plug-ins separately though? With the express pack i pay $500 more & get a $750 voucher. So that's like $250 in free plug-ins.

Or maybe you're right i should just use them & then see which one's i need.

@ PoM

I've heard praise about those as well but are they as good as UAD?           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

1: Your UADe will run on all of the slots of your computer.

2: Definitly go for the version with the 750 voucher. one day you will end up wanting to buy more plugins anyway, and then you saved 250bucks.

3: power of the card is not very high, but still its cool. Furthermore the plugins are great and the part that cost the money. one day there will be a new more powerful card from uad and you wil not have to buy the plugins again. just the card.           Most of my music for you to download at:

sony oxford plugins is VERY nice, and the limiter is by far the best software limiter IMO - but i love my UAD plugins. I really would not know what to do if i couldnt use them anymore

i regret i didnt buy the expert pak, it would have saved me some money.

the neve 33609 runs only one instance, in stereo, 2 in mono. so i agree on this one. the cards could be more efficient.           myspace.com/auralinvasion

i hope a new card is coming soon ,or release the plugs native ... the sonnox is a better buy imo, the plugs are really very good, not only the limiter ,and it ll cost less maybe.now i ll wait for a new card from ua cause they need to upgrade !

You can always use more power on a DSP card or a processor. For me it's the quality of the plugins that counts and most of the time i use a few compressors and Cambridge eq's and mostly on subgroups. Using it this way i have seldom felt limited by the processing power of the UAD-1. You're right about the Sonnox plugins though. As they say: Powercore + UAD-1 = heaven
