I started learning music recently and i still don`t figure out wich are the basic chods and scales used in psytrance, i´ve been exploring and atleast have fpund wich sound too happy or too dark, but mmmm i would appreciate some help from a musician here, i mean i don`t want to be taught how to do it, just where to look for.

It sounds childish and immature cause is being played on very basic scales (C,Am,F,Dm, - the most common, those 80% of all pop music is played in) and/or isn't theoretically stable(sudden key changes; mellodys built on I,III and V notes only etc...).
When it gets too sad its those common keys again, when you play on same scales with Celid Dions music - don't expect to get fresh results.
Now ofcourse it was sayed in a very simplifing way and there is more to music than playng in a particular scale or cord, the context (what was before and is yet to come) is not less important.
The usual suggestion whoul be studying some theory and when you done, study some more ...

Hope I somehow helped ...

minor!

if i had more knowlegde i could explain better: ok next try.

i like bit of dissonance in moll. and i like playing with octaves. playing with octaves is standart in trance productions, nearly every acid line has octave jumps.

Exellent thread!

the thing i do, is first find the key to my bassline, then i try to tune the kick accordingly. In case the kick is a sample, i do the opposite, i try to tune the bass to the kick. Then i try this key for the main riff, and play in the method of african percussions rythms, then i modulates the hits trough the notes of the chord, thus making in-tune melodies - with a hypnotic, tribal edge. Makes good mystical feel!
Its a good way to eliminate the childish side of your melodies, even if ou use the same chord/notes.

But you have to be good on the DJEMBE first!!!

i enjoy writing in a minor scale as well. i feel the mood of the music becomes more serious and with more weight. i like the mood it produces and the vibe it creates.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

Yep, minor is a good one. I'll just add that context thingy again : there is no dissonace without consonace, no up without down and every minor has its major.

Well minor keys really are in massive use in music that goals deeper and more complexed feelings to evoke.

tribalizer - i love my Djembe

btw like topdown said in his last post..
try and go from Am to G major to Em to F major
All in the same octave, so G major is left to A minor..

Am G Em F
also try and play them a little rhytmic for a nice touch not just dead mans hands

i really like this chord progression, and listen how the minor chords puts another feeling on the major chords... also try and add the root key in the bass octave for a fuller chord...

experiment whit chords and try and add some keys aswell... some Dim chortds and stuff..
and also like adding the 7th to some chords makes it more alive...

Agree with Mantik! ... Definitely the minor scale ... specially the harmonic minor ... my favorite!

Playing with scales is key for your arrangement but when determining the mood of your track I'd go one step behind that's your harmonic progression and what determines the use of scales ...

Knowing modes is what you need to apply whatever mood you want to your whole track...

Take a look

http://www.bearmeadow.com/smi/modes.htm

- ionian mode will generate that happy enviroment ...

- lydian mode brings that outsider and mystic impression to your sound ...

Music is feeling but also mathematics!

Think about that!

a lot of psy is in minor keys like A minor or G minor....you will find that most pentatonic blues scales will work perfectly over a psy song.
