1. I have SB Live! Value (yeah yeah).
For some reason, every time I restart the computer I start hearing very strong TSSSSSSS noises coming from the device the soundcard connected to (headphones, etc.), and of course the soundcard is not operational. To "solve" that problem I have to reinstall the drivers, but after I restart, it comes back again.
How do I stop these horibble noises ? (and no, it's not heavy metal, I already checked )
2.I have MB Qwart (or something) loudspeakers, and I want to buy stands for them. The question is, where can I buy such stands in Israel ?
and, are they all "standard" stands or especially for the speakers ?
Thanks in advance,
TiM |

About the stand: Go to ACE or Home Center and buy stands in there.

Are those stands really good ?
I once saw stands standing on three very sharp "kotzim", to maximize sound quality.

They probably do it to minimize the vibrations coming from the speaker to the floor. Quite useful in my opinion.

Timmy, I experinced the same problem when I used SB live. I have no idea what's causing it, but in order to get rid of it temporarily, shut down the computer (not restart).

This is really ****ed up.
For me it works by restarting too (did you have to reinstall the drivers?).
Did you use Live! Value or Platinum ?

I used the live full (the prior version of platinum). I reinstalled the drivers, but it didn't solve the problem. You should get a non-creative sound card, for I see no other solution.

Thanks.
And yes, I am thinking in that direction.
The only problem is, well, money

the s.card is not your problem. if you hear the hiss and you say the card is not operational ....[if u hear somethg.. the card does something]
answer these questions:
what windows do u use ?
has the card ever worked ?
after what has it begun to act like this ?
do you get error messages ?
did you try other headphones/speakers ?

Yep, it works after I reinstall the drivers.
It has been this way for a long time
I get various blue screens from time to time telling me various error msgs.
Yes, I did try other headphones/speakers.
BTW, I tried a format and that didn't help either.
Thanks

Try to take off the cable that connect the cd to the sound card this should fix the noise problems, otherwise try to cover the sound card with 2 sheets of newspaper with 1 sheet of aluminium between them.
Carfull cos the aluminum should not tuch the hardware, this two things should fix your problem.
Anyway i advice you to download the latest drivers for your system from soundblaster web site.
And you should install I.E 6 with active desktop.
If after all these the problem isn't fixed so you should send your sound card to the recycle bin!!!! ehehehe

Thanks, but can you explain why do I need 2 sheets of newspaper with 1 sheet of aluminium between them ?
And why do I need IE6 and active desktop ?

this is in case the noise is because of other cards' electronmagnetic noises
it's called "Pascal Cage" like against the lightenings... funny

this is maybe for the installers to work L:
anyways.
if the crackles really continue - try uninstalling the card completely (drivers, registry etc.)
then shut down the PC.
open it up (if it's not on garantee - iotherwise ask the shop to fix it up)
try using another PCI slot.
about the CD audio - make sure u connect it to "CD-audio" and not to "Aux" or other.
anyway, my box was not the best, and it had no problems with sblive.

The sheet of aluminium between the sheats of news paper arround the sound card is to protect it form electrmagnetic waves cos some computer components have electromagnetic waves and this can be a problem with some sound cards.
About the ie6 it has like a (service pack or something similar) that can correct some errors on the operating system.
Hope this help you!!!

The sheet of aluminium between the sheats of news paper arround the sound card is to protect it form electrmagnetic waves ...
[snap]
the only problem that can be is that the aluminium foil gets hot, and fires the paper ... so u need to call firemen
it's dangerous!!!
