So I figured I might give some more info.

I'm a musician from Quebec, Canada. Been into trance since 97. These two tracks were done last month using Logic 6 and a Nord Lead 2. The latter was recorded and heavily overdubbed, edited, processed and arranged. Out of an interest in purism and self-imposed constraints in the context of artistic creation, the _only_ sound source on these tracks is the Nord Lead 2. The only processes are those packaged with Logic, i.e. Emagic plugins.

I tried some - what are for me new - techniques on these two tracks.

Recording a good riff is where my work started for "Invasion". I then have as many as 6 copies of a same riff playing, and the sound files may or may not be in phase. Each copy of the riff has it's own automation score. Also, I tried integrating abstract sounds, and build coherent musical sentences with these. You can hear these in the intro and at the first breakdown.

As far as the second track goes, "Funomation", the title says it all. I went nuts with the track automations. The synth riff are stated with fewer copies, but the automation for each is more detailed.

I didn't listen to much techno for a few years, so I suspect some passages of both tracks may refer to an older style. You let me know.

Thanks for listening!

I hear the nordlead infact u work same way I do... although no mac here.

Invasion - starts very nicely. kinda adrkish bassline going on. Kick seems to be a little late - dunno why.
those fade outs of the melody - dunno - don't work here
i gotta say it's very psychedelic - and melodic ideas floating. I enjoyed this one.
it's not as powerful, but with few minor things u can make this track into a total blast.

Furmation... (what's with the -ion names?)
starts darkish sounding...then those crazy kinda nord enters - I like this idea. it's like a great crazy part in the middle. but again those sudde nfade outs or whatever - don't work ....

I would say all the tracks are minimal in their presentation. each time another efect takes over another.

getting this sound upfront will get these tracks to be top class production.

cheers.

Thanks for the comments Trip-. What do you mean by getting this sound upfront? Which sound?

Anybody else listen to these?
