If I remember correctly, Simon posted on the Twisted forum saying they were offered that deal - an offer they couldn't refuse - but it all turned out to be a scam. The promoter made off with the revenue from selling presale tickets to an event that was never going to happen.

It's not possible for Twisted Records to gain a 5% share of the artists gig fee's? It won't turn the ship around but it would go in the right direction.
Skip a stroboscope, save twisted records!

A few years back I wrote to Coast II Coast asking about Simon's fees and they responded by saying "you probably couldn't even afford his first-class ticket."

One time I was listening to Younger Brother's Myspace page player, and I left a comment saying, "You guys are awesome! What would it take to get you guys to come to Asheville?" In less than 5 minutes I got an e-mail from them saying, "A good promoter and a lot of money."

^ maybe because of 4 or 5 plane tickets, hotels and traveling expenses?

so this should be the reason why I never saw Hallucinogen on any flyer in Germany along all this long years..
And what about all the loyal fans?
I think many made him known as well as his music of course. At least the ones who bought his materials.

i think people underestimate how much the really big artists get for their set fees.. granted i haven't heard any exact figures, tho plenty of indications of the 'range' they get. but playing in a band in our local scene and knowing how much some of the bigger local bands get..
just as an example a local band i know here in melbourne that formed in 2005, have released one cd on one of the indie labels here, sold ok but not amazingly well, and are pretty much unknown outside of australia. their set fee? $20,000. and just as example the last show they played the venue they sold out is the exact same one i've seen hallucinogen at and sell out..
hallucinogen's first album sold what, something like 85,000 copies? and a shitload more for the second one, and is a pretty massive name internationally. granted he hasn't done anything recently under that name, but still can obviously price himself pretty damn high.
i hardly ever see him on international linups tho, and whether that's because he's just too expensive or whether he just doesn't like touring.. but i'm sure if he gigged around a bit more and put some of that money into twisted they'd be doing a lot better. |

Still, Simon Posford's touring schedule and his fees have nothing to do with the financial situation of the Twisted label. If Simon P gets money for a Hallucinogen set, it doesn't help Simon H and the Twisted label much.
So I don't really see how the discussion of Simon P's fees contributes to this topic.
