Mmmm, forgive me if I jump straight to what irks me about it, but I doubt me caressing your ego will do you any good ^__^ Also, if I sound a bit harsh at times... well, reviewing music is just more fun that way, try it some time
So here goes:
1) The Intro.
Starts off really cool, I was kinda getting amped for the first 30s, then the intro just starts grating my tits, not enough happening, well, not enough shit of SUBSTANCE if you know what I mean - very neat wooshing impending gargantuan doom machine noises, but they can't stand around alone... I generally don't like commenting on composition, because how you lay out a track is your own damn business, but I really think the intro is a mite long :<
2) The Hats
They don't seem to be integrating nicely into the mix, a little wonky if you will, mebbe give them a sliiiight reverb, or something to give it a bit of width or character!
3) The Kick and Bass
Here a lot of work is needed methinks, the bass tends to drown the kick - I do recommend checking out side-chaining (if you have not already, my ear tells me you have not, but these are only headphones [gah, what am I saying, only?! These headphones are <3]) Heads-up for when you do, generally for psy look at settings more or less in the following range:
Ratio: 4
Threshold: Set so that you get a -3dB reduction
Attack: ~20ms
Sustain: 0ms
Release: Auto will do for now
At 02:43-ish a new bass starts, or the old one loses its distortion, or WHATEVER, but it loses a lot of volume, and thus sounds a tad unstable. It is hard to work with low bass frequencies some times, I know, you can't always hear them, whether it be hearing loss or shitty speakers... HOWEVER, I recommend to get thee a nice sharp lowpass, and listen on solo to the sub 100Hz range of your basses and check that they stayyyy stable. Check that theres not too much volume in that 30Hz area though, you don't want your song to go WOOF WOOF, but DOOF DOOF. A high-pass round the 20Hz area should sort that out.
4) The Transitions
Yeahh, I know what I said about not commenting on composition generally, buuuuut I'm having so much fun typing that I THINK I WILL. The transitions just need a tad of polish here and there, a slight buildup to a drop, a fill before a break, that kinda crap.
5) The General Levels
I might have wonky ears and am thus not hearing the song right, but it sounds like you have a reasonable distance to go with making things sound 'good'. Making things sound good is the long part of music production IMO, we all start out with a head full of ideas and with no technical knowledge, and slooowllly we figure out what works where and how to make what sound like what, and at some point you sit back and realise, "Holy Shitsicles, this sounds a lot better than when I started making music!" And it happens again, and again, everything you make sounding better the last I recommend FORUMS and so forth like this one, it isn't the most interesting part of the music making (this point can be argued), you want to get ideas down and not sit and tweak an EQ for 4 hours while listening to a 3s segment on loop, but you HAVE TO. WHY? Because, and this is the best advice I can give anyone, or that anyone has ever given me:
NOTHING IS EVER TOO MUCH EFFORT
Well, that was fun! As a slight disclaimer I would like to say this is just my viewpoint, it could be wrong, woaaaaa it could be very wrong, so take it with a pinch of salt, and weight it against the other reviews to draw a balanced conclusion etc etc etc.
[Guys, this is your queue to review the mans track so he can have a multitude of viewpoints >.>]
