Hey there,
Any of you got any tips for getting a solid twilight, not-too-buzzy bass out of Trilogy? In the same vein as Mindcore, Biorhythm, Digital Talk etc. I've had success using the Prophet 5 Saw, but I'm looking for something a bit rounder and deeper. I also find that note length is an issue, if my bass notes aren't 64th notes then they run into each other, sounding like one big buzz.
Any help would be appreciated. |

In regards to the notes running into each other, this occurs even with a tight amplitude envelope. |

that includes no sustain and release and a short decay?

Yeh, all the sliders are down except for the sustain. 32nd and 64th notes seem to work the best with all the wave forms. |

hey mate,
what bpm are you working in? trilogy has not the fastest envelopes. i say up to mid 140s should be possible.
i make tunes up to 144 with full 16th notes: no problem whatsoever. i use the 303 saw, or the juno 60 saw which is nice and round.
all adsr down, only increase decay on amp env to half, and filter decay just as much as you need, should be working fine. there are knobs besides the envelopes that control the speed and sensitivity of the envelopes, have those at zero otherwise you won´t get tight results (of course)!
at the filter section turn key all the way to the right!
have you also turned all lfo modulations of?
this must be working, or your software has a problem. very easy to get a tight and good bass sound of trilogy (up to certain speeds)
have fun, great tool
cheers

yeah, I'd try without the sustain on (sustain at 0) and just using decay to see if the notes run together after that.

For fast bass I also only use decay and no sustain...works good! |

juno 106 is more round but from what i remember the prophet 5 saw is more easy to get right, much more clean in the low but it may depends the notes used .
the tb 303 saw don t sound that great wihout any processing but it can be very good to , but i gess most of the saw are usable, just disapointed with the minimoog saw it don t sound right in trilogy imo .i made some old dark tunes with the real bass samples ,they can work better than the synths ones for more experimental stuff |

is it possible to load sample in trilian? if not what about omnisphere? they use same filters and envelops? they should make a sampler but maybe omnisphere cover that. |
