I was wondering what kind of effects and tweaks you guys, psy producers do in order to achieve that distortion sounds/leads.
What kinf od preset/sound do we have to start tweaking in order to achive the sounds of that song from psysex.
ex:
Psysex_-_Altered_States_(Coco_Loco_Remix).

Thanks.

if u want to make a good synth...well i couldnt help that much on here...but ok here...

turn off every OSC u have...then play each Osc one bye one and see what sound they make...take the one u like and play with the speed, detune, and cutoff...and well u got urself a skazi synth....then add more OSC on top of it...then do the same...until u achieve good sounding i guess...thats what I do...and twea the ENV of course

By the way, I'm using only soft synths...bassline,vanguard,albino,trilogy,atmosphere,native instruments and zeta.

there's your problem. throw away all these softsynths and pick one of them. for example albino2 is a nice sound design tool for various synths. now lock yourself up. read the manual. don't answer phonecalls. place yourself in front of your monitor. start with an init patch. read ebooks about sound design, tweak some more. read on isratrance, various topics about creating patches. tweak even more.

reverse engineer patches you like. try to rebuilt them on an init patch. you will hear the difference of every step you make.

there are also quite interesting result with help of preset morphing/randomisation tools. energy xt let's you do that (www.xt-hq.com)

there's no shortcut in designing your own patches. it asks for a lot of dedication and work. and still keep tweaking.           soundcloud.com/epsylohm

I appreciate what you saying and I know you are right, Albino for some reason is not sync with Cubase very well, is the only one...
I would like to know how to reach that sound that I posted above, Psysex, that's it...
I am doing what you posted as well but I need some more advice getting what I want...
here the example:

I love the Albino2! I make almost every sound with that supercreation

And yeah, there is a shortcut: work from patches! There are also some good patch-collections here on the forum

yes, it has awesome presets and stuff, but for some reason it;s syncing with cubase.
Can you give the links for the presets vanguard, zeta and albino?

ecsmix, try this with your albino, you'll come pretty close i am sure. use a single sawtooth waveform, route it into a highpass filter with low or medium resonance and in the volume envelope use short attack and release times. next, set the portamento to bend mode, use a high range like 20, and play with the rate knob (somewhere around 50% should sound OK)

it may sound a bit thin at that point, so add another HP filter, but this time use the one in the effects list. when you add a little saturation and start automating the cutoff knob in real time there, it should sound pretty good. try to understand the parameters though and experiment with the knobs.

hope this helps

I didn't want to start a separate topic for this, but can anyone direct me how to get to the INIT patach in Albino 2? I searched all of my banks and the whole manual but I am jammed up on how to get to it....

Thanks in advance.           ELECTRON EYES / MARK-EVAN (NOR. CAL)
