Wow, love the samples...!

now we just have to locate it on cd or lossless from somewhere...

i`v been comparing sound qualities of the various mp3 files, and can tell some differences, sure, but how obvious is once you go from say 320 to say wav,i mean to the average human ear ,or even a pigs ear maybe, actually i am serious bout this ?,as i`ve become a slightly nerdy, audiophile , anorak kinda o guy of late.

I don't know how obvious the the changes are to the ear when you move from 320mp3 to wav. However I do know that - and this is probably an issue within my self only - that if I am aware that a track is mp3 then I can't (or won't) enjoy it as much. It is completely subjective, and not necessarily logical. But that's how I operate.

As such, I probably miss lots of great netlabel releases purely for the reason that they are available only as mp3. However I have come to terms with this and am at relative peace with it. Although sometimes I ackonowledge that I am missing out.

I don't even have super wizz bang sound equipment, and my music setup is such that I can't even have teh speakers placed in optimum positions, but the quality of the audio format is a separate issue to that of the audio transmitter for me.

Does that make any sense?

I'm going to jump on DjSchofield's bandwagon. I know that you're not supposed to be able to hear the difference, but there's a psychological impact for me. Knowing I have a lossless format makes a difference to my ears. Even if I can't _really_ hear the difference. I don't totally shun the MP3 or Ogg format, but if given the choice I'll pay the premium for FLAC or WAV.

I also think it makes some difference in the direction that digital distribution will go. As CDs fade away and digital downloads continue to eclipse them, I think that lossless formats are a dividing line to stop MP3 albums from costing as much as the physical CDs did. You may laugh, but the biggest distributors already do this. I don't think it's uncommon for Beatport releases in MP3 to actually cost _more_ than the physical CD with the perfect audio quality, packaging, and shipping. Even after CDs are really gone, I think it makes a difference to be able to say "Why am I going to pay $14USD for your 192K MP3's when they're not CD quality like FLAC or WAV is?".

Just my 2 cents, and I'm often wrong and misguided about things.

if you guys are battling to get the CD you can ask Jay,

netwrk77@iafrica.com

he runs the microdot label, and imports audio gear and is in close contact with warrick sony (the kalahari surfer)

he should be getting a bunch of copies soon, he sez he will post the cd and artwork without plastic to the UK to reduce shipping costs.

The price seems quite reasonable for the Kalahari website. About AU$18 delivered.

Damn, I distinctly remember saying in another thread that I need to pull back from buying music for a while...

Unless I've got it wrong, i fugured the album is R91.15 plus R29.00 postage, which makes R120.15

1 Rand is worth AU$ 0.149863. So it ends up being AU $18.00.

According to my calculations it should be £9.80.

Maybe someone can check my math. I used http://www.x-rates.com/calculator.html#

I hope i'm right, i wouldn't want to make you pay double what i said.

Btw I never did end up buying this. Too many other distractions in other quarters...

The album sounds awesome and its a number 1 contender for album of the year...apparently the first pressing was a mastering glitch so it was redone...wasnt a big deal the sound quality rocks. Hope you guys get sorted.

Unfortunatelly .wavs usually cost much more than 320k .mp3s           http://www.chillumafia.com

interesting, the 2nd pressing contains an extra hidden track, sounds like a rawer version of T3 'wading through the sea'..which features a quirky baritone sax line...
the album is largely a collaborative effort of many people...and plundering the depths of warrick sony's african recordings.
T8 'another goat' is epiiiic... live sitars , guitars, kalimba samples, african vocals and that g.hunter dub groove which sounds like its about to come off the rails..its infectious & sick.
T9 is a slow come down journey...shakers, droney trombones, slow twisted sitar notes...its a cool meditation and fitting end.

i got my copy via Jay mentioned in prev post...who got them from warrick sony.
