how do you do it? i mean, how do you turn your tracks into a demo to send for the labels etc..? do you cut the volume at some points, do you add some distortion, do you cut half of the song..

thanks

Some Fade ins and outs in the crash tempo can do the job... i think its the better choice and send the track in mp3...

cheers !           thoughts become things

I think fades are annoying, if you want to watermark use a sample or something, or just don't upload the whole track but please don't use fade thing completly kills the track.

Uh...I wouldn't do any of that annoying fade/distortion shit. I absolutely can't stand it when people do that.

Not like someone is going to steal your track and make a million dollars off it anyways. This is not a comment on your sound quality btw, it's just reality.

IMO just make the track the best you can and send it off to them in the best quality without any of that bullshit.

Also - didn't you just start producing relatively recently? Takes a long time to get the required skills to make something worth releasing..            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

agree with will ,no need fade and all that stuff, but try to get in touch with the label first and they will tell you what to do.

your absolutely right and i feels the same this fades kills the track anyway i know many ppl do this ...

one think is if you really want to send some demos send in mp3 to show your skills and ideias and attach a wave version in full quality in rar whit password ... why whit password?

if the label like it, gonna ask you for the wave version and that its a time to make a deal....

this is just some tricks which some friends do....

i just want to share this

I 100% agree here. The worse thing is to get a tune cut up or otherwise interrupted. And many times a label like to test out a demo at a gig (After all it's danceable music and the crowds response is important) and by cutting it up etc. chances are it goes into the bin.

But if you want to do it I guess just taking it into a audio editor ( I dont know what system you are on to advice you what software to use) and add some silence in random places (but not too often) could do the trick.           www.beatagency.dk

I took a listen and even though it's not my taste in psytrance his tune is not that bad compared to other more experienced artists. Production-wise he is just as good. IMO. But yeah a few more tunes and knob twisting would probably be a good idea

A general advice even though it probably is a bit outdated due to the fact there's no money in this business to make from selling music.

But never hand over the master (wav/aif) until the deal is signed (and do remember to get some legal help before signing the contract - it can prove to be a good investment - I know from bad experience)

I was inexperienced, naive and too fast to sign a deal with a label without checking with a legal expert and before I knew it the label owned not only my artists name and all the music I did under that name but also my personal name which resulted in the fact that I could not make any music outside that label under any name.

So I started to make music under fictive names and of course my record label found out and I had to settle outside court loosing all my royalties which was quite a lot of money (result was I lost my studio as I had to pay back 2.5 years of royalty too) and any income from my previous releases the next 8 years forward. But it was worth it in the sense That I got my freedom back and today I own all my old music 100%
