www.blackviper.com has some good info. I did the disable XP services stuff. type something like services.msc in the run window. then go through and disable a bunch of stuff. He goes over it very well on his site. It really helped my system run better for music and games....
peace;

Has anyone tried to disable the paging file/virtual memory? I've heared it improves the performance if you've got enough ram. I have bought 512mb more memory and I am thinking of doing it. Any bad experiences from this? Anyone tried to do a benchmark test before and after the changes?
If anyone's feeling lucky try this (I found it in KVR):
Go to start\run\regedit -and then to the following key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

1.DisablePagingExecutive -double click it and in the decimal put a 1 - this allows XP to keep data in memory now instead of paging sections of ram to harddrive yeilds faster performance.

2.LargeSystemCache- double click it and change the decimal to 1 -this allows XP Kernal to Run in memory improves system performance alot

I don't know about this, but i have a definte value for the page file. Set min and max to the same value (i have 512) so windows don't change it is size all time and has less calculating for it.            Signature

very true....if the page size is constant, there is less swapping and you can improve your computer performance

actually, i read somewhere that the page file should be 2.5 times your memory. It did work on my old Win98 PC, but don't know about XP / 2000....guess it should work
