It is not bad
It just is
Of course, it sucks that there was something we could have done to have a warning, such as sensors, but I guess we will learn from this huge mistake.
It is in moments like these that human strength really makes itself felt and we see what we are really capable of. It is a shame though that what we are capable of is not always positive. I am still taken aback that there is still tension between the tamil Tigers and the Ceylonese government. How could ppl think about politics at a time like this. Shame on them. Hopefully, it won't deter the little help Sri lanka is getting too much.

The authorities knew it was coming. They didn't warn because it would be harmful to income, because of all the tourists there. It just goes to show that some people suck in general.
It sucked what happened, but if they'd warned earlier they could've prevented at least something. And wake up people, this is nature we're talking about, so things like this just happen. Ofcourse it sucks... but that's life isn't it?? Full of nasty surprises...

Not exactly true!
The Authorities knew the Earthquake had happened (of course) but they did not anticipate such an Tsunami because it haden't happened in more than 140 years or so. So they did not warn the Hotels and Turist Industry because they would not frighten the Tourists and yes because they did not want to loose their jobs if it turned out to be nothing! Of course it turned out to be a horrible disaster but you can hardly blame the Authorities for the deads! They simply did not think it would happen and they thought if aTsunami would happen it would be small and wave off at Sumatra. Why? Because the initial figures said that the Earthquake was less strong than it turned out to be!
The real bad guys here IMO is USA that actually did know that a big Tsunami was on the rise (the knew it because of surveilance from Satelites and Intelligense used to track Terrorists in Asia - Indonesia). But they did nothing and excused themselves with that they did not know who they should call. Yeah sure! As long as it's not American lives then who cares!
But at the end fo the day it's a horrible disaster that no one can do anything about! Not now or in the Future! The dead pole is now around 140.000 dead people. 80.000 alone in Indonesia. And the numbers are anticipated to rise to more than 200.000 deads because of the following epedemics that will kill just as many people as teh Tsunami.
Scandinavia is most hit (Nationalities outside Asia) with over 4500 missing Swedish people, 2200 Norweigian missing people and 750 missing Danish People. And these people were all registered with Airlines. It's calculated that there's 100% more people missing traveling alone as backpackers from Scandinavia.
I suggest people spend a little cash to support the victims! |

hmmm... conspiracies.. you know, there are a bunch of Americans who died also, in addition to everyone else. also I doubt intelligence satellites keep watch over the Indian Ocean. not many terrorists to catch there.
i think a more interesting conspiracy theory would be to say that USA _caused_ the earthquake with one of their evil futuristic sci-fi weapons.
peace to all who are lost.........

Well it's not an conspiracy theory due to the fact that the American officials actually did say they did not know where to call to. I suggest you read the news on CNN or other news feeds online.
As for the satelites and intelligence. yes they do indeed monitor most of Asia because of the many terrorist cells there. They also have satelites monitoring weather all over the globe.
Also a fact that can be found on various newschannels online. |

From what I understood, it was the Tsunami center in Hawaii that calculated that there was going to be a Tsunami.
And frankly, I am not too surprised about them not knowing who to contact. How ever much I dislike the current administration in the USA, I sincerely doubt there were any bad intentions involved.
