Wazup. I was wondering how u guys pann your noises or leads(left/right). If I understand correctly, my bass has to be in mono.also my kick.also the snair and hihats are in the middle, so I need everything else not to be in the middle cuz they get over the bass and the bass looses cleaningness in the eq, and is important for the bass to breath.. So does every lead I make do I have to pann it to the side ? or what do you guys recomend.Cuz I know this is very important in a mix. Cuz if I have everything in the middle it just sounds bad. I do use stereo imager.and it helps but I cant be using it all the time. So guys how do u do it.???

Whatever sounds good. Learn all basics and the most common tricks about panning. Focal press Mixing Audio is good overview about studiowork. Remember use your ears in the first place, any advice wont help you better than your ears.

What he said, I pan almost everything (other than drums and bass) to different amounts.

A) So the sounds don't clash
B) It sounds so much trippier having lots of different sounds coming at you from every angle.

But I'm pretty poor at producing at the moment. So am most likley wrong

Nuts to rules. I love panning 16th hihats.

Also found out that it's fun to duplicate a lead and pan one channel of it.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

dont' pan anything hard left or right.

Work a lot on panning of drums and percussion - it's very important. Not only panning, but also reverb and other group processing.           http://soundcloud.com/aedem

split a stereo lead into 2 mono channels - then pan them left and right, till it sounds good.

also shift one channel 5-11 ms forward!

why is this so hard heheh

Its nice to automate from hard left/right and into something more "sensible"; dont be afraid of breaking the rules! FX sounds nice if heavily panned...           http://www.myspace.com/fragletrollet

also fun to have similar FX sounds start at extreme pans then slowly move to the middle then out again
