highpass... quite fast decay, and a relatively fast attack, about 16th, or 32nd in length.
Abit of distortion to get some glisten...
Then (my favourite touch) add a 1/4* (off beat) delay with an LFO'd bandpass filter mixing in gradually on a long feedback tail...
i.e. the original sound echoes then gradually modulates

try to take any string sound in albino, set attack to zero, decay on 1 third ,sustain to zero and open release a very little bit. now draw any short chord(max 1 bar) and put a little reverb over it. |

1. Do it the hard way so the sound is completely controlled by you. It's your sound, you've made it, therefore it's exactly what your mind wants to be in that particular part of the track.
2. House chords only sound more organic because that's how they've been made.. you can make a sound just as organic (if you know how)... or just go and record a nice old hammond organ, or wurlitzer or whatever...
It's not much harder anyway... it's just more personal.

i dont think at all that it is more personal... in psytrance scene (almost ) everyone synthesizes everything (and tries to get the same sound[fucking weird]) .. and i think that is why most of (i dont know how you call it in english) "pop-psy" sounds all the same...
never ending synthesized puke.... sorry if i hurs someones feelings... there is sure some nice "pop-psy" also |

Please don't start insulting me because we disagree.
It's still more personal than using an AKAI sample, because it's YOUR sound.
Sure, the music may be very similar, but at least it's been made by the person.
Also, it doesn't mean you SHOULD sound the same... If you don't like the pop-psy sounds which "sound the same" then don't encourage people to use samples which can be used by millions of people.
chances are it will discourage creativity further.
I do agree with you though, alot sounds similar... but only originality will stop that, I might as well help people out with tips to create the sound, so they can learn and develop their own sounds from that.
Not just tell them to get an (often crap) AKAI sample and use it + the chord itself is very important, so having a single sample of a chord is completely uncreative.
You're being hypocritical anyway, if you're encouraging creativity then don't encourage AKAI samples. If you're encouraging using pre-made sounds, don't expect anything new.
