Hey folks, I'm looking for portable monitors.. something nice with fair bit of quality yet small enough to fit into a backpack. So far I have been looking at the Genelec 6010A
http://www.genelec.com/firststep/
and they seem to look nice, haven't tried them in a shop yet though... Im not expecting them to deliver bass properly as far as i know that's not really possible with speakers of this size. Any other small monitors you could recommend?

Also i've been thinking about some headphones for making music while traveling, or in a train or cafe, i think they'd have to be either closed or have noise cancellation and comfortable enough to wear for longer time... Someone have suggestions?

with a low end of 74hz there is no way you will hear the bass acurately. I would probably opt for Sennheiser HD 700 in your case. They will be more accurate than the genelecs...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

I'd go with a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 250-80's..small and light with a detachable cable, and the most accurate response for closed headphones in the price range. Fairly isolating and really comfortable too..           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

I have those genelec as computer speakers at work..

they are ok, but I would never produce on them...

not loud enough, no bass, and as soon as you crank them a little bit, they distort...

they are good for general use though, and have a very clear mid/high response at low level...
