Artist : Kasey Taylor
Title : “Trapped remixes”
Label : Vapour recordings 069
Format : Digital EP
Release date : 27/5/08

Track list
1. Trapped (Dousk rmx)
2. Trapped (Avilo rmx)
3. Trapped (Flow & Zeo rmx)

Trapped (Dousk rmx)
Most wanted Greek producer Dousk has recently confirmed his brilliant return to the fore of the progressive scene by releasing a couple of stunning tracks, such as the rmx of Logiztik Soundz signed at Flow Vinyl, and that of Ido Ophir and Miki Litvak’s Shnorkel, released at Evapour8, not to mention those waiting in the pipeline. He takes “Trapped” to downright techno territories, with a bad ass undulating bassline, and rollercoaster pads undergoing gradual pitch bends and transposes. The hammering of the snare is reminiscent of the binary pattern of the housy original until the last break seemingly cools things down a bit, while actually taking the track to an effective crowd-pleasing climax and flavouring the finale with more metallic sounds and acid twists. Another gnarly remix and precious DJ tool by the Greek maestro.

Trapped (Avilo rmx)
UK producer Avilo has earned a solid reputation with his tracks being caned by big name DJs such as Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Dave Seaman, Lemon 8, Jamie Stevens (Infusion), Anthony Pappa etc. He is next on remix duty and has his sights set on the electro-house genre. The originality of his reworking hinges mostly on the sprinkling of cascading sounds effects and samples of accelerated-decelerated spining vinyl scratches which give a wacky touch.

Trapped (Flow & Zeo rmx)
Flow & Zeo are a much sought-after electro-minimal DJ couple based in Rio de Janeiro, with appearances at some of the biggest festivals in the world such as the Love Parade, Creamfields, Universo Paralello, Voov, Trancendance etc. They are now heralds of Tropical Beats and D-Nox’s Sprout labels. Their take on the fat, prog-house, Kasey Taylor all-time classic could be described as charting minimal tech-house territory, but it’s a very restrained exploration, as they deliver quite a stripped back version of the pumping original groover. It mainly consists in a percussive groovy lead conversing with hissing, filtered, hi-hat cymbal drive. The break conventionally interrupts things without building on tension or suspense. An OK piece for the opening of a set.

Bottom line :
Another fine package from the Vapour headquarters, with three diverse and complementary tracks, and a nice teaser for the forthcoming compilation at Iboga records signed by Kasey Taylor. The standout piece being IMHO, the Dousk rmx.

The remix by the Greek maestro Dousk stands out from the rest, I've been enjoying his latest stuff since quite time till now.. The Avilo remix ain't bad but the Dousk's remix it worth the whole digital EP!!
