Don't get used to it though...

On record, it really depends.
I really enjoy making breaks with the transitions, so I can get back when the track peaks.
So in this case, a long one would be better.
But like I said, depends on the style your mixing, and the tracks you're about to.
But I like longer mixes.

Generally I prefer longer transitions, but it also depends on the tracks and the style. With some very energetic and driving music, such as some full on and pounding techno, faster cuts and transitions can work better than longer transitions, while I'm finding long transitions better for more hypnotic music such as some deeper techno, progressive house and progressive trance.
But again - it depends on the tracks. There are no rules.

prOfane said it. Depends on the track and style. For suomi and even darkpsy I find I'm cutting quicker, keeping the momentum and not breaking the pace, especially when the basslines and key are similar.
Longer mixes for minimal, prog, tech etc for the layering effect, given the space it allows.

For full on banging tracks fast cuts and transitions can work wonders, really helps the energy on the floor.
