I just learned about shaping transients and wow it is nice (currently using this: http://www.schaack-audio.com/transientshaper.html).

I have just played around with shaping the transients of my percussion to make them sharper or a bit fuller. Does anyone have some other suggestions for using transients on different sounds? In general I have a good feel for what I can do with it, but was wondering what other people use transient shapers for.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

if imm not mistaken transient shapers help you control the sustain, attack and phase of a sound... its somewhat similar to a compressor but not really a compressor which helps you control the shape of a sound....

it makes your sound louder gives more expressiveness and richness

u can use it on ur percussion for sure
also on ur bass to shorten and lenghten the boom of a bass drum
try usin it over ambience and play around wid the controls
try using the decay control since it is the most effective and easy to hear....

cheers!!!

if u got cubase 4 or 5 use the the envelope shaper _______Great use gently tho because u can tend to over do it,, tweak till sounds good.. but then again if your filter &amp evelopes are shit hot no need for transient shapers i think... i like the transient monster from stirwel

I have used sometimes to reduce sharpness of sounds by dimishing the attack, or like a badly drawn gate by reducing the release.
Anyway i'm always careful when reducing or the mix becomes a pig mud, loss definition and clarity when exaggerated

Not to mention the importance of good monitors and that you are in the sweetspot while doing this..
sometimes its very subtle nuances...
