if imm not mistaken transient shapers help you control the sustain,attack and phase of a sound... its somewhat similar to a compressor but not really a compressor which helps you control the shape of a sound....
it makes your sound louder gives more expressiveness and richness
u can use it on ur percussion for sure
also on ur bass to shorten and lenghten the boom of a bass drum
try usin it over ambience and play around wid the controls
try using the decay control since it is the most effective and easy to hear....

if u got cubase 4 or 5 use the the envelope shaper _______Great use gently tho because u can tend to over do it,, tweak till sounds good.. but then again if your filter & evelopes are shit hot no need for transient shapers i think... i like the transient monster from stirwel
