I find this tools to be very usefull. Sometimes it's even better solution for tracking instruments than with "classic" eq-comp chain. So far I've used Waves, PSP Treble Mix, Dominion, Voxengo Transmodder. I would like to hear do you find them usefull and when.
I use them on all snare, hat, crash and other percusive tracks. Kick drum with Voxengo Transmodder is always better than without it. I sometimes use PSP Treble Mix for some fine "air" distortion to lead synths and it's possible to automate the frequency and bandwith of distortion. The list goes on daily as I try this tools on different stuff.

I've checked voxengo transmodder. Good topic
Some extreme settings gave me good results, but I probably missed to listen carefully.
Not much experience with this type of plugin, but thanks for the tip. I can imagine some good reasons to have better control over notelenght, dynamics and distortion.
