I was reading an old reply by Bilbo bagginz (by the way if such a person is Cosmosis, niiiiice album-Contact) were he mentions a few abreviations which I dont understand,(being a beginner myself)
Could someone trnslate the following;2PBPf,Vco, Vca Vcf
Also can u do that on a Virus B rack synth?

cheers

2 pole band pass filter
Voltage controlled oscillator
Voltage controlled Amplifier
Voltage Controlled Frequency

You can do that on most of the Virtual Analog Synths           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

Where? 4BPF with VCF is pretty basic component, i'm sure it exists in every virtual analog           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

actually,

on every virtual analog, the basic filters are at 12dB which is 2pole. and maybe some 24dB low pass.

But you could easily build 4pole filters on Reaktor

I think all this 2x or 4x refers to when you decide to route more than one filter(if your synth has them of course) in series or in parallel. In parallel they get doubled.

By the way are you absolutely sure Vxx refers to voltage(controlled osc etc..) to me velocity sounds like a better word.ie for modulation and all that

3CPO, were you refering to the Virus in your question? If so, in a filter mode called Ser-6 you can have 2 BPF, alligned serially, the first has 4 poles and the second has 2 poles (overall is equivalent to 36dB).

steve,
in electronics VCF is a voltage controlled filter.
it is since the analog times when the controller knobs were potentiometers (potential is voltage), and audio was pure analogue voltage signal.

Velocity is something that came with MIDI.
in terms of electricity, velocity is still voltage.

sorry i made you learn so many abbreviations.

cheers.

i am not from Cosmosis.
