Trance in India is really picking up but imo not in the right direction..Every second person on their various profile have Psy Trance as their favourite music when they probably havent heard more than juice and ecstacy.Trance seems to be the cool thing now.

Yeah like how are we supposed to calculate?
Maybe by No. of parties and size of parties.
Do you think if we counted the No. of people from each country in the isratrance forum it would be a good indicator? or would that have to do also with the amount of internet access in each country and economic developmemt?
Anyways, I am pretty happy with the amount of people in Mexico that listen to psy trance. I don't care that they are into it to much or not, I am happy alone that psy trance clicked with a lot of people here enough for them to listen to it. Which in some way also destroys the myth that psy trance is mostly a white mans music. Since Mexico population is like 70% native american and you see a lot of people with clearly native american blood rocking like crazy to psy trance.
Anyways, I think psy trance was succesful in Mexico because a lot of people were already ready for something like that, like there are the Mexican hippies that have been searching for mystical experiences and going to the desert to eat peyote and things like that since always. Also there is a good amount of people interested in ufos and also with all the ancient pyramids and cultures of the past that were already a bit into hallucinogenics I think it was sort of a good match for the psy trance movement.
And it all happened really fast. However when the psy parties started getting huge there were a lot of people complaining about "bad" people flooding the parties. Bad refering to groups that had no idea about "what the real psy trance vibe is all about". Some of these "bad" people included groups that would get inside the party without paying by forcing the gate/door to open by bulling together pushing eachother. They call these dudes "nacuaraveros"
The thing is Mexico is a 3rd world country and there is a big division between the poor and the middle/high class. Psy trance is not heard so much by the poorest people, however I think there is great potential there if somebody will make an effort to connect the *movement* at that level. I also think that psy trance maybe has the potential to cut through the class divisions and unite people.
Anybody else have similar situations in their country with class systems? My guess is that Brazil and other countries in latin america have same things. BTW, I think Colombia, Chile and also Venezuela should be picking up in the psy trance soon as it happened in Mexico so suddenly. The thing is I am of the impression that all these countries have many cultural similarities. And if the movement is already going on big well forgive my ignorance then. Also I would love to see Peru going, it has such a great setting. I imagine parties there in absolutely fantastic places with amazing wildlife and scenery. Well I think all these places are more than ready and willing, we just need more psy trance missionaries that are willing to travel to these NEW areas and plant the seed in groovy open minded people with good hearts.
One dream I have is to make some free parties with the indigenous tribes in Mexico. I was in Bonampak (maya ruins) and there were these lacandon indian kids in the jungle and I showed them with my mini disk some parts of the dementratainment album by hallucinogen and they totally got it and were absolutely captivated by the music. So its all just a matter of getting the psy trance involved with these people.
I just feel that there is a huge potential there because you can be poor but when you connect with some of the psy trance feelings you are not poor anymore, you are part of a greater, fucking cool thing with awesome music that is not concerned so much with the money and where we are all equal and open minded about cultural differences. And at least in Mexico there is still a lot of discrimination and mostly classism so psy trance is a way to break with all that bs with the support of a funky cool and hip <<world>> community of psy people. |

Finland has a small population of about 5,4 million people and psy scene is rather small, even though gaining more foot hold all the time. Finns, any guesses how many we are? I don't have any idea... could be something around 4000-7000 casual listeners, number of party goers is much less though.
In Israel psytrance must be more popular than anywhere else (at least if compared to the whole population), you can hear it basically everywhere just by walkin around.
I remember the demonstration in Rabin Square, how many people there were, many anyway, but probably lot of 'bypassers' as well. |

what a shame for us |

no it's not racism, it's lack of knowledge.
1- Lebanon is not a muslim country, not by political constitution, nor by religious practice.
2- Lebanon has a moderate eletronic scene, not essentially psychedelic trance, but rather trance, and progressive trance, electro, house.
3- every year there s a big rave/trance event happening in the desert of Jordan, Wadi Rum, gathering people from different corners of the world. there are other club events hapenning throughout the year, in Amman, Jordan.
4- there are two main forums in Lebanon to promote eletronic music and its different genres, Lebaneseravers.com and trancehits.com
5- as for the %, well Lebanon is a small country, with only 3.5 million, so i guess there are alsmost 10,000 of them who listen to trance (number of people attending one trance event in Lebanon)..
as for psychedelic.. i guess there are almost 500 - 600 people only.

Then give me the reason why Lebenese broadcasting didn't wanted to show Israeli contester in Eurovision?
If you country is not muslim politically or religiously.
That's the reason why your contester haven't been to Eurovision.

OFFTOPIC:
But this got nothing to do with religious issues, it s pure politics, you think that we have a problem with Israeli people?? hell no we don't, some of my dearest friends are israelis, and they are right here on this forum to support that
and if you choose to be a slave to the media, and believe everything you see on the news, then it s your choice, but you got to know that political issues between the two countries should not and does not create a barrier between its people.
back to the topic please
