It seems popular among psytrance fans to refer to armin van buuren/tiesto/paul van dyk/above and beyond type trance as "euro-trance" which to me is a little confusing.
I think of "euro trance" as the intersection of trance and eurodance--like the aforementioned Alice Deejay track, for example, or some of ATB's stuff. |

Yeah, I personally call it "Dutch", since that's where the bulk of it is coming from. Not sure if it's an "official" term.
All this geography exercise may be a bit dangerous. I remember when somebody got almost offended when I referred to Terrafractyl’s “Chrysalis” as Full On. Turned out, in his mind “Full On” meant “Israeli Full On” and the latter meant “Cheezy Plastic Music”. Two misconceptions for the price of one.

I am a bit tired form trying to place things in boxes.. I think music is a feeling and as a new producer and a DJ buying downloads you will realize that style names all mix up..
I say let's all meet up in Sonica, Montenegro to feel great about music

So do I actually, and that includes also the great Sash.
But I thought, here on Isratrance we just call regular supersaw-trance, 'Eurotrance'.
Not that we don't know the difference between the 2, it's also a way of putting regular trance down a bit, by just throwing it on top of that pile of Cheese trance/dance stuff
But I hope we all know that real Eurotrance is a lot cheesier than Armin/Tiesto trance
And I guess the most underground Trance project must be something like Protoculture. |

"Trance" isn't a monolith, it's a more diversified body then most think. What is pop is mostly shallow and boring. The aim of this music is just mating. That's why it goes pretty well with uninspiring drugs like speed and alcohol. But even the underground (like gabber or minimal) is mostly just dull.
What makes a psytrance so special is this spark of psychedelic magic. Not every label, artist or even attendant "get it" but most do and the magic is still there.
What I find sad is that the vibe frequency has been lowered and individuals on the parties start to be disconnected. I find more arguments and prejudices then I would like to but luckily I didn't saw any violence from the participants so I can bear it. Violance is what has driven me out of the punk scene and from the revolutionary anarchist circles. But I do get some worrying news that our scene is loosing it's vibe. It's just getting too big, too well-known, too commercial. Less psychedelics, more speeds. Less psychedelic music, more fast music. Less hippies, more bullies. Communal feeling is dropping and the use of drugs is rising. Or am I all wrong?
P.S. The First Stone is awesome! Thanks for the link! Have they released anything?

I hope not, i hope the opposite, That people are taking lesser drugs and start making bigger efforts to dance and focus on the music and the love that lies inside it.
But without war no peace like they use to say. So to see it can show us what we really want.
Violence is quite natural behavior from time to time, i wouldn't worry for it to become chaos on a party, except if the police come and start something. more than 99% are there to have fun and dance and listen to good music. So it should not be a problem.
I dont know what happens around the world, but i hope that people are trying their best to spread some love even if it can be difficult from time to time.

True... but some cheesy, mindless energetic vocal pseudo-trance music is just giving me a feeling of disgust. Sorry, I can't help it. I won't start liking all music just to be outside-the-box.
ONLY psychedelic music has this magic and depth that I'm looking for and "psychedelic trance music takes it to the highest". |

I prefer no vocals, sometimes it can create a atmosphere if it`s like a choir with some fx on, or some speaking samples twisted abit etc, but when it`s like singing its a no no for me.Feels kinda boring ,like hearing a special synth patch over and over again, i mean after a couple of thousand years the "saw fire 405 " does not sound so good anylonger. The voice singing it kinda overdone to a certain limit. Nothing new or exiting.Sometimes vocal influences can be cool though as said, but not like plain singing.
If i want that i get some sing and songwriter cd or turn on the radio .
