trance styles are just attempts to describe music.
music is real. style is just a box invented in the mind of the person trying to describe the music.
the music comes first. the style is just someones attempt to analyse it in terms of their previous experience.
take your microgenres and stick them up a donkeys rectum 
music matters. analysts are anal-ists.

without labels the music would all be the same and we would consider skazi to be identical with ocelot. words are the way that we establish a relation between our selves and the external world. if those labels are imprecise than that is the fault of the person selecting them, not the fault of teh word itself. Categorization is necessary to separate the world, to take a chaotic jumble and formulate it.

Yeah... the genre names and descriptions we apply to music are just convenient labels to facilitate discussion.

^^ yes i concur also alex..it is our attempt to describe the music and categorize it.
by this line of ideas, also other musical genres don´t have "substyles"..no death metal, heavy metal, trasj metal etc etc...
i do not care of names to it, just i simply it is best to refer to a certain sonoritie, since there are so many diferent sounds..it is easier to categorize it, me thinks

True...the problem is the constant need to perform judgements on things based on the assumption that "what i like is what is right"...and so on!!!!
Definitions are just tools to organize one's way of interact with the rest...kinda like a mental note
