Although not exactly trance .. Fear Factory (US death metal band) were the first band to introduce me to the Rock/Crossover when they released "Fear is the Midkiller EP" EP (1993) which is RMX's of their metal album "Soul of a New Machine" (1992) .. they continued this with "Demanufacture" (1995) and "Remanufacture" (1997) ..
Remanufacture RMX's are closer to the style and variation of the Spawn Soundtrack collaborations..

Every now and then I still pull them out and listen because some of the work is still relevant and interesting to listen to from an engineering aspect .. although I find it harder to listen to cookie monster singing (Death Metal growling vocal style) these days..

The last track on Pungent Stench "Dirty Rhymes and Psychotic Beats" (1992 ??) leans more into trance territory but has minimal influence from metal/rock genres..

well, i think dark soho has a few tracks that're very much influenced by heavy metal, maybe not rock.
and i really do think that the energies are very much alike, but i guess that only full-on fans would connect to it, cause this kind of rock has a lot of power to it, sort of like the full power style of full-on. that's why i guess the only music i hear from time to time that isn't trance is rock.

people you are not refering to the topic!
we all know there are trance artists who use rock\heavy metal infulences and rock artists which are influnced by electronic music.
he's not talking about this!

I don't think they have the same groove.
There's no groove in metal, imho.
The more common things between metal and psytrance are the facts that they're both 'extreme' genres that are (supposed to be) non-commercial, and that people have stigmas on both scenes.
I like black metal more than full on, for example.
BM is more... dark and thrilling than full on to me.
I also like the melodies in BM more than the ones in full-on.
and yet I don't reckon they're too much alike.
They can be combined, there are some really nice stuff (e.g Tim Schuldt, Dark Soho and S.U.N Project made good stuff combining some gitars with Trance).
and I still can't find the same groove in both...

Naaa, it's not the same, the thing made to crossover trance and rock (such as dark soho and sun project), is way overused, the combination should be more likly about a more ezoteric music such as indie and stuff. the groove, BTW, is the Groove, doesnt matter in what style it's achived. (BTW, I Do Respect All the groups/Band Mentionded A LOT! Just took 'em as a common example. Good Work Pulse Indeed...)           "The Blues is'nt about making you feel better. It's about making others feel worse, and make a few bucks while you're at it." - "Bleeding gums" Murphey.

How about some White Zombie or Powerman 5000 (Rob Zombie's little brother) who I saw supporting Pantera at Brixton Academy a couple of years ago (Anyone who knows me will think this sounds a bit strange - me at a Pantera gig!). They are coming at it from the rock side but still with psychedelic coming through as well
