Hi,
I have a question. I love to make trance although I use laymans tools like Fruity Loops etc. My question here is some what two fold. First I have never studied music - do you people making good music out there feel it is imperative to know how to read music to make it and second what do you suggest I use as a tool to make music any recommended tools? Thanks in advance.

i know a lot of people who write/wrote great music with no music education whatsoever...
but all of those who tried and learned some stuff admitted that they can do more now and they would have done a lot more if they had more music knowledge earlier...
in search for an answer... |

Music knowledge is very important, imo.
Your music will sound much better, your melodies will not sound bad at all, everything will be on the same scale, etc..

i too have a mixed opinion on this...people who have knowledge of music might not stray away from the rules of music (which is IMO the essence of trance), but then again, i may be biased coz i have no knowledge of music!
