So we come to a point, where his music is trance or techno. Nice I like that. In a way I was able to predict that ,since I have participated in numerous similar conversations in the past.

In my first message I had written the word 'technotrance' instead of just 'trance'. (14 Aug. 00.27)

The reason i edited this post is because I wanted to focus on the word 'trance', a word which characterises a variety of styles.

Everything is largely dependant on what we consider each kind (of music) to be.
Our experience plays a big role on that. In what? In giving a more accurate definition of a subject. The years of evolving into a scene may allow us to know it's history, it's evolution and maybe it's origins.

There were some reasons for today's state of the trance scene. And today's many subcategories, are a result of the different taste that you find in people. The adjectives that we give to a music type, is a way to aid in understanding, the elements that we will find in a person's music. And they are not themselves a music genre. {example: you cannot say "progressive" is a type of music, whereas 'progressive house' is a style of music, that represents the house music-genre}

I do think that Tiesto has techno influencies in his sound. I also think that we can use the word 'euro' for the big raves that he had participated (and maybe commercialish). But at the end I think that he plays trance music, since the flow on most of his tracks , and the direction in his set leads to a rahter euphoric feeling.

Maybe the expresssion euro-techtrance, better describes Tiesto's style. The main element, though, still remains trance.

*Tech for me is technology. Thus techno, the mechanical industrial sound. Detroit is the mother of techno, an area of heavy industrial activity. Who gave birth to techno? A few people that tried to find their way of expression, through the sound of the machines.
This can give some answers to some of the issues that were discussed, on a nice thred, under the name (more technology : less inspiration?).
{[Anything relative from my part, will be discussed on that thred!]}

Well, I just think that Tiesto is not part of our thing, whether he is a trance, techno or progressive. If I HAD to characterize his style, I'd just say he is a "High heels and white, buttoned shirt waiting to step in that classy-toppy poser club" music dj.

an almost perfect ceremony to mark the begining of the [E]ra.. (thoze who know will understand.. thoze who dont.. will soon do..)

- did any1 ask vangelis to play at the opening ? yes he did charge more than 10 million euros for Mythodea but that waz for NASA. maybe he would charge a more reasonable amount of money for the olympix !?!

..and az for tiesto.. it waz a great idea to trance(?) the ceremony a little bit but they could choose a greek dj to vibrate the place.. personaly i can send him back to dj school playing in my sleep after a bad trip (!!) and i am not an established trance dj persona..
we have several good djz here that would do the job perfectly..

and bjork iz nice but what about arvanitaki or marinela even ? the problem iz that they're not "market right" for BBC or CNN or whatever.. thats the problem..           -----------------------------------------
it's ON !!

An8rwpos, I believe that they chose Bjork for the reason you just said, and because you cannot put marinela's voice or arvanitaki's voice along with electronic music.

The result would be disastrous, from an artistic point of view.

Excuse me but comparing Bjork with Marinela or Arvanitaki (who i both respect as singers,especially Arvanitaki) is at least funny.Bjork is one of the greatest singers ever with huge success worldwide and a very very special voice that noone in this planet has.

As for DJ Tiesto,well Anthropos i think its a little arrogant to say that you are so much better than him and still noone knows you (at least you admit that).He might not be the best disc jockey in the world but he is for sure among the Top 100 and he is again worldwide known and respected by his fans and not only.

As for Vangelis i expressed my self before about this guy,he might be an amazing musician but the money that he charges are over the moon (even for Nasa hehe) and for sure he doesnt worth all that,noone does actually.

P.S If the Olympic Comittee chose one greek dj for the ceremony all the others would protest like original Greeks 'Why did they chose him and not me' and stuff like that.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!
