Trance Parties: Trance love or drug tolerance ?

I know this theme brings some passions up, and there is a lot of opinionated people who will go to extremes to make their point...But here it goes. What is there about trance parties which attracts so many people that make use of drugs ? Donīt take this question for its face value, as it much more subtle than that. Are these people in love with trance ? Or are they only enjoying their time with their substance of choice without being bothered by anyone, and damn the music ? Or are those substances necessary to fully comprehend the meaning of Trance ? If, by some mischievous trick all drugs vanished out from earth, would trance parties remain the same ?? |

No, trance parties would not remain the same.
They would be much better.
But that's me. Most ppl will disagree.
And once and for all eternity: trance and drugs are not related. You don't need drugs to understand trance, and you don't need trance to take drugs. Simple as that.

Thatīs the feedback I get from the parties I attend...
Drugs are not the problem.
It is a part of the scene actually... it has always been.
Peopleīs atittude and drug and door policy at parties are the main issues too be taken care of at this point. IMO

This is a very very long discussion wich will not get to any point. Addicteds will still being addicted. I mean, i agree with Luiz Paulo for sure but you can't close your eyes towards those who choosed to expand their minds with some kind of drug. And thats what i'm sad about. Its a pity that some ppl can't expand their minds with what is natural (and with the mind its self!), such as the landscape, the music and the ppl around. I consider the use of drugs as a person's weekness. And i used to be week some times, but i'm getting stronger day-by-day. And i still love psy parties, ppl and music.

everything IS a drug.

Drugs give the trance music a very bad name!
e.g: if someone hears trance music some people will say to him : "ma ata shome-a muzika shel mesumamim?"

The worst are people who say they feel sorry for those who take drugs at parties, for those "addicted ppl" who cannot enjoy a party without his E, who doesn't understand trance and blablabla...But still that same person, who is so critical to others, doesn't go to raves anymore because he/she wants to stay clean. What does that say about someone? That he/she is not able to control himself at a party and don't take the pill. |

Hey ! Letīs try and stick to the topic...Thatīs why I said the question originating this thread is subtle: Thereīs no implicit or explicit judgment regarding the TYPE of drugs one uses, neither thereīs any moral & ethical considerations embedded into the question. Those are wholy different matters, and that argument is surely endless. If Trance parties attracted MAINLY cigarrete smokers, or alcohol drinkers, the same question would apply. Iīm trying to figure out if, to most people, Trance parties are simply a sort of Oktober Fests, but instead of draft beer, the leit motif is drugs, Thatīs all. |

I agree with wako...this discussion is useless...
Each one has to make is own choice...and everybody should respect it and thats all about it.
And no, drugs is not equals trance!
Rock concerts have had drugs since the 60īs.
Reggae music is related to weed (ok, its part of their religion, but still...)
Drugs have been present in the music scene over the years.
But the music still makes your higher than anything!

Man... I think 2 ppl can be @ the same party and have a totally different feeling about it... taking drugs or not, enjoying it truely or not...
Different ppl, same place, different feelings...
Iīll do what I think is the best for me... youīll do what you think is the best for you... and fuck concepts! Iīll do whatever I want!
You have to follow rules, obey laws, and all this kinda stuff when you live in society, but for me, when I go to parties, I just donīt give a shit....
Freedom, man! Do what you want, be what you want, just respect the others... this is what trance parties are all about!
And I have to agree with Wako: this is an old and useless discussion that wonīt lead anyone anywhere, īcause Iīm pretty sure that some of those who say that parties should be clean of drugs always take something!
Am I wrong?

I have to agree with VOR... trance is so good because it shelters everybody... people in the trance scene (some of them) just don't care what is going on in the rest of the world... all they care about is having a good time (all the time???)... hehehe
