it's the promoters choice to pay, not the fault of the artits or their manager who said how much it costs.
if the promoter is ripped off then they get what they deserve for not doing their research into who they are hiring properly.
I've always asked acts to send a short vid of their live act, and if they say no for any reason then I'll only offer them the same as a dj will payr or they don't get the gig.
Business is about doing proper research before investing funds, if you fail to do this you get what you deserve.

That's terrible if you have to assume the worst about live acts. Don't you think they could show you a video of their live act and still not do a proper one at the show? Doing your "research" has nothing to do with it. Your method doesn't ensure anything about the live acts performance, you are just seeing if they've done a live act before. This exact instance could have happened to you since gms has plenty of videos of them doing a real live act. Organizers never deserve to be ripped off. It is ALWAYS the artists fault for not delivering on what they promise. http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

and gms released 700 tracks?

bravo. and what's the difference among them?
last good track was 'on a mission from god' in 2000 imo.
btw i think it's not 700 tracks but 700 releases maybe, with all the licenced tracks. some of them were released 5-6-7 times on different compilations, plus reprints etc.
sorry for being offtopic.

DeadActs website is showing some things which are not right, when people pay for a live act and don't get what they are paying for it's not right. No matter how many tracks you have made and no matter how much success you have done for me it's completely unprofessional to go on stage and pretend to play something live when it's not
  Boom :)

i don`t get the point about ranting gms did not play live just for the fact they were using traktor.
i mean switching on ableton or any other software to play more or less a premixed file (and in best case throwing in some samples with the help of a midicontroller) is imo the same.
the only disgusting thing is when artists are pretending to do something (on not connected gear and so on). just for this fact the page deadacts makes sense (to unhide those fakers) and not that they catch artists in not playing live. 99% of all artists are not playing live.
so as a paying visitor of a party i know that fact and i don`t give a shit about it, as long as i can enjoy some good and never heard tunes. but if they start jumping around and adjusting knobs on "virtual" gear i get really pissed off.

as long all the equipment that was promised is there!!!
many times i come and then they say "oh and sorry no midi keys for you like u asked but nevermind do what u can.." then there will be only dj+fx set and they will pay full price as agreed cause its not me who is not doing his part.
but what equipment , lets start with beer clean table for laptops... or proper soundman that know how to conect me not to the dj mixer , which degrade the quality for nothing.
as much im into the real live , this setup is almost impossible. only 2 out 50 promoters ever asked for stage rider , im sure 50% dont even know what it meens. so doing your best sometimes is very dsapointing after few times u carry too much stuff abroad for nothing.. thats the only reason and its damm good one that i can find for many artists playing just cds or something... hehe yay for 8" laptops! www.sattelbattle.com
