I am getting sick and tired of people who tells me I aint making progressive trance just becoz they don't know the styles. I make Prog. trance the iboga, plusquam, Digital Structures etc. way -and thats REAL Progressive trance to me, but most people who aren't deep into the genre often claim that it's psy trance... well anyway.

When you guys upload your progressive trance to the different music sharing sites such as Soundclick, download.com and acidplanet etc. what do you categorize your trance as? I ask coz it seems that many people just put it under psy trance in order to get the smalltime psy people, who don't know the genres, to listen... -in most of these sites progressive trance soesn't get many listens but if you categorize it as psyTrance many people come and mostly they compliment it and say something like "Very cool style without the usual/to well known Psy-sounds and buildup.

It's so frustrating for an amateur like me coz I'm not making PsyTrance I'M MAKING FU.Kn Progressive Trance! Buuhhuuu...

Progressive Trance is more popular than Psytrance so I don't see how labeling it Psy gives you more hits. In fact, just label it "Trance" and see what kind of reaction you get.

You also must remember that about 4 or 5 years ago there also was another subgenre of trance that was labelled Progressive Trance. It definitely was the more melodic variety, and eventually became cybertrance, but it just depends on who you talk to that will make it's generalization. I agree with John's comment. Just call it trance and see what happens.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
