This week I just listened to the new New Order release, and I got pretty disappointed. They've lost their momemtum, I think back in 96 with "Technique" - one of the best electronic albums so far.
My point is that, I was a N.O. fan number one. But instead of buying their last album, I turned to the trance shelves and ended up with Suria (The Dark Side of the Sun), one of the best albums of trance I got this year.
So, perhaps a lot of people are complaining about "modern psy/goa trance", and I reckon I've complaining a lot. But if you make a comparison between trance and the other scenes, trance still is charming. Of course there are a lot of bad trance around, as everybody knows. On the other hand there are a lot of good stuff as well.

Good point Goa-ganges,
I think no one so far on isra came up with this topic.
It's true,
We always complain about today's trance (and as you probably know I'm the no.1 to criticize today's trance) but we never really compare it to the other styles and yes many styles today are going downhill even lower than trance.
For me personally,so far two of the highest quality styles are ambient & dub.
Psychedelic is hibernating for a while but will be back. |
