lately (or not) we see trance movies/clips/videos/products in the media and in stores.

for example: the festival in brasil, the box of frox video clip on israeli cable, the party video`s (solipce, karahana, zambia.. etc), trance djs appear on tv shows...

how do u think it effects the poeple that r not involved in this culture. (by saing people i also mean - police, authoritys, law... etc)
i mean... in what way they understand this way of life that we live from this?
do they get only the bad things out of it... or also the good sides of it.

on one hand, many people (djs, artists and common people) see them selfs as distributers of trance music & way of life, and on the other hand there r people that wanna keep it as underground as posible

what do u think about it?           if you want to be rich, u`ve got to be a bitch!

i don't know about police and such, but as far as the underground thing goes i think it would be okay if trance got bigger, but is our responsibility to define what the trance scene is about. ie: freedom, peace, creativity, unity, open-mindedness, etc.

i would like to envision a mainstream scene that would be composed of these values, but unfortunately it seems where money is to be made, the greedy flock and it would be those who ruin it for us all.

so i guess what i'm saying is i don't know. hahahaha

Keep it as underground as possible. Trance music is not something you should be told to listen to, it should be--earned by the person. Just like underground that will never come to you - you must go to it.

I hate people listening to mainstream, but since I hate those people, I wouldnt want them near me would I? Though I dunno really what to think           Ut ameris, amabilis esto.

Isn't this what trance is al about? PLUR?
Everybody has the right to listen to trance.
And the fact the population is accepting it, then the better.
I come from a hardcore techno scene, which I left cause I got tired of the scene's people thinking they were above everybody, and that nobody understands their music, and this is the way it should be. Only a handful of "enlightened and elite" crowd.
I thought it's different in trance. Come on guys!!! If more people start liking trance, you should be proud of it. Means we are changing something! Stop being so egoistic!!!           Majority is never right!

Well there is a funny thing going on over here in japan.
Half a year ago when the trance scene just started to be commercialized, the tv`s, magazines, radio`s were calling trance, drug music. Raves were drug party`s. That pissed me off!! all they were doing was Bashing the trance scene.
BUT now since they now they can make money off trance, they sayin trance has a good effect on the brain, bringing out these scientific studies stating the good effects of trance music and dancing.
So much BULLS"#T!!
I am just waiting for the commercialized trance scene to cool down again.

I think it is really important for Trance to be accepted by the mainstream as a legitimate form of music and art, and not treat it like its just something that people make for taking drugs.           Both teams played hard

i think raver girl has a point. a lot of this scene is about being inclusive etc.
however it is surely possible to be plur etc without becoming a commercial money machine for some multinational (and that is why mainstream sux - multinational, maximise profits, sell to everyone, attract how you lot call them...shimon/arsim in uk we say wankers )

the ethos of the trance scene global though it is in one sense is also local in that it brings people together in their individual countries / cities - and it is simply not possible to have the same community atmosphere if everyone is doing it.

anyway i think the music is sufficiently abstruse that we don't have to worry about people flocking to our scene - they are all much happier with tiesto etc - and welcome to him imo           >>love will tear us apart...<<

i realy dont see whats wrong with that...

personaly, i think that u guys think too much localy. think more globaly...
what that will do to the trance communities around the world.

u say that u dont want "clubers" and "bad vibe people" (arsim)... but as u all know they already come to trance parties and bring theyre own uniqe vibe (not all good... but still its something diferent), so just think about all the beautiful people that can join this tribe and how much they can contribute to trance culture...

and apart from that... the commercializm is not the topic here, i think its about givin` the people a little peep into our culture

okay, maybe my anti commercialization rant did not really address the issue

however i think that what i was sort of trying to say at the end was, you know, chill out everyone, this worry that our scene is going to be swamped with outsiders is a little paranoid. for sure we think trance is the best music in the world ever (maybe) but not everyone does (my little sister is a good example). Some people hate the music.
some people don't even get as far as the music they just automatically right off the associated lifestyle etc.

anyway i agree with yossi that we shouldn't care about all people listening to trance if they want too then cool if not then not.

oh and btw over here most parties are in clubs because its too bloody wet outside most of the time!           >>love will tear us apart...<<

I think raver girl has a point... people who don't know what trance is all about need a first contact with it, so they will either get connected with it, its way of life, its filosophy or just never listen to it again... Anyways, I think that if trance became something really commercial it would lose most of its beauty, but, on the other hand, how will people get to know it if its only undergroud? This is a really tough question, and something we all should be thinking about...
