1. Hallucinogen - Shamanix (so many ppl have already mentioned LSD)
2. Juno Reactor - Feel the Universe (my JR choice)
3. Planet BEN - Ant Invasion (the beginnings of the moving towards somewhat more techier grounds)
4. Pleiadians - Taygeta (true melodic spiritual goa for me)
5. X-Dream - Radio (nothing to be said)
6. Infected Mushroom - Return of the Shadows (was really groundbreaking at the time)
7. Atmos - Cable Enable (proggy beats gain some ground)
8. Midi Miliz - Soopercharge (German powerhorse)
9. Son Kite - Where's My Drum (minimal trance at its best, in fact, nothing minimal here, the layering is impeccable)
10. Antix - Free As We Are (in a league of its own)
11. Penta - Disgusting Creatures (where dark started picking up, even though Penta's earlier stuff is not even dark imo)
12. Haltya - Hero (fusion, anyone?)
13. Tamlin - Fjaqek (madness for the new millennium)
Bonus: Shpongle - DMT (this list could not have been complete without a chiller from Shpongle) Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

Now here's a real 10 track representation of trance music evolution.
1. Yaniv Haviv - Power Flower
Trance before they knew how to make trance. Experimenting with sounds and ideas.
2. Hallucinogen - LSD
No words, really.
3. Astral Projection - Let There Be Light
The inventors of melodic goa sound, timeless powerful music.
4. Pleiadians - Full Mental Jackpot (Crop Circles Remix)
PSYCHEDELIA!!!!! YAY!
5. Eyal Barkan - Good Morning Israel
Really stupid style that made some people rich and some other people pissed off. hehe
6. Bitmonx - Grabber
Yes, there was a small wave of minimal music a few years ago.
7. Vibrasphere - Newport (Son Kite Remix)
... which then evolved into the progressive sound of today.
8. Astrix & Atomic Pulse - Scientific Reality
One of the classics of modern day full on.
9. 1200 Mics - Mescaline
One of the most popular guitar tracks, I think it has it's place. And yes, I know that Johan - Stranded did it a few years earlier.
10. X-Dream - Rewind
Techtrance yay This is one of the highlights from that genre.
Ok I missed a lot of stuff, such as suomi, darkpsy, real dark, real psy (:P), etc etc. But I only have 10 tracks, so i'll let someone else complete my list.

I saw nobody mentioning it, so I will add:
MOKSHA
Any track by these guys is a trance classic, and my reccomendation goes to album:
The Psychochemickal Experience (Live at Goa Gajah) / POF Records
Oh yes, the track Iteration was also a beautiful classic.

eh the history of trance.. lets see what i can come up with
etnica - trip tonite
one of the most dreaming track ever made, it was all over in goa and everyone flyed away.
man with no name - teleport
the essence of the uk trance scene, the beginning of a era
hallucinogen - gamma goblins
the master of uk psychedelia, after lsd (who mentioned everyone) a incredible hit, elves everywhere chased by mad goblins!!
doof - destination bom
now thats to reach the sky
pleiadians - alcyone
and once ur in the sky to fly through the cosmos
astral projection - mahadeva
in the sky u need to praise to the gods and here comes the hymn to them
blue planet corp - micromega
after gods have forgiven you of your sins u can star an interstellar overdrive mission all around
prana & amanite fx - black rain
Now thats a superb masterpiece always loved it for its myserious magical touch
quatermass - kali
the goddess of disstruction/recomnstruction, highly addictive for its powerful synths
chi-ad - exit eternity
with this track u reach imortality. massive
ok thats enough for me
PS: if i can add something outside of reality that prize will go to:
crop circles - lunar civilization (pleiadians remix) but due to the fact it never was released it cant really fit the top 10. whoever had the chance to listen to this has never been the same person. |

Here are some of the tracks that I consider as important milestones in the history of psy-trance.
(no particular order)
>>Transwave-Land of Freedom
I haven't heard this track for more than 5 years and I still can't get that melody out of my head!
>>Phreaky-Tornado
This track is psychedelic genius. One of the best story-telling tracks ever.Truly Mindbending.
>>Joujouka-Re-psycle-Frequencies
This track was one of the first psy-trance tracks that had a proper breakbeat section. Was one of the first tracks that really incorporated influences from other genres
>>Atmos- Jimmy the Plate
Defined and sparked the whole minimal movement.
The atmospherics became more important than leads.
>>GMS- On a mission from God
Dimitri DKN opened his set at Samothraki in 2001 with this. The place went balistic. The acidic synth work has been copied 20 000 times by other producers without success.
>>Paps-Vibes from the other side
One of the dirtiest, fattest peaktime tracks ever. Seriously twisted and powerful. Paps made distortion sound psychedelic.
>>SBK- Morgenlatte
One of the fattest sounding prog tunes ever. Massive synth stabs and an unforgetable sample.
>>Koxbox-Crunchy Moles
Funky, deep, jamming, intelligent, and unpredictable.Frank E and Ian Ion brought a whole new full-coloured sound to the scene with this track. Its like magic.
>>Tripiatrik- The Real Wrong
Played a role in making trance sinister.
>>Infected Mushroom-Psycho
Made other producers jealous. One of those tracks that just grabs you by the belt and takes you up and up and up.
>>Hallucinogen-Mil-loony-um
Definitely deserves a place in trance history. This track broke all the rules. Redefined the way many people think about psy-trance. It went down extremely well at the South Africa 2000 fest.
LSD and Gamma Goblins deserve equal credit, this track just played an even more active role in the evolution of psytrance music
>>Deedrah-Reload
This track changed the sound of psytrance basslines forever. No-one can deny that.
>>Logic Bomb-Daydreaming(the 3d revelation)
There are labels and producers who have based their whole sound around this track(They just won't admit it). I hear its influence all the time.
>>CPU-Killer Rabbit
This track gave the full-on movement one giant kick up the ass! Its never been the same.
>>SUB6-Indian Jackpot
One of those rare, truly original tracks that came out of nowhere.
>>Dark Soho-Depth of Emotion
This deserves to be noted. One of the most important guitar tracks ever. Simply massive.
