It's all one big mish mash of 4/4, the deeper the better imo. Techno with quirky trance'ish twists are far more psychedelic, hypnotic, playful and driving than anything I heard coming from what you would refer to as "the trance scene".

With the latter being one of my all time techno favourites.

Its all subjective.
Them clips and generally this new techno bandwagon that an awful lot of people have jumped on, is like the "full-on" of the techno scene. A lot of tunes sound very similar and a whole set of them gets boring very quickly if there are not some good rugs doing the rounds in the party. All the good acid lines pads and stabs have been replaced by "shuffled clickyness"...I'm sick and tired of it after partying 7 years in London.

For me, psychedelic techno with substance is something like this

+1, although it is quite different than the minimal techno, in question.

Peace out.

I like to say that most of the "techno" played in the psytrance scene has very little to do with real techno. Its basically psy and especially fullon slowed down and stripped from melodies.           www.beatagency.dk

Looking at what guys like RPO, Perc, Metalogic, VX are doing, I am going to have to disagree with that           My FaceBook psychedelic techno page, with news, videos, DJ sets and free releases:

Im not impressed with the "psytrance" on Beatport. First of all nothing comes close to techno (if it did it would probably be located in the techno section). Most sound like a clone between fullon and progressive psytrance. Not my cup of tea. Some even sound like horrible Eurotrance with over the top cheesy vocals

My point regarding techno not being real techno in the psytrance scene was meant this way (i guess i did not explain it properly):

The so-called techno made by artist in the psytrance scene mostly sound like fullon slowed down and stipped from melodies. And it's quite logic. They originate from fullon/progressive psy and it's obvious when you listen to their music.

psy-trance in the late '90s is what a lot of people refer to as progressive, nowdays...but people did not call it progressive back then, they just called it psytrance...

for example...
These are some of the big belters that saw us through the new millenium, right before Israeli full on clones made their appearance and sent the scene down the gutter

You play it to someone that hasn't listened to psy-trance for more than 5 years, and they think its progressive...how times change, eh?

P.S. that electric guitar (God forbid!) bass sound and pattern on "Bass Monster" destroyed any dancefloor, any and everytime it was dropped!

Peace out.

I find the beatport psy-trance section offensive.

I'm from those days also, and every 15 days we had a nice Progressive partie with sounds like these, really entrancing moments i must say, with some dj's that came from the techno school, man they didn't miss a beat, it was a slow ride up until u just weren't there anymore

More trance-inducing minimal...

a spacey track from oakland california (via seattle label)

and a spooky, funky track from Hobo (former member of Tractile) on M_nus
