Ive been starting to create my own gates. With midi notes triggering a gate.
That way you can design it the way you want and the possibilities are much greater. You should try it out
Otherwise arald fx(just hate that its not synced to host), mgtriggergate .

Whilst you are searching for a gate plug in, you can do it the old fashioned way.
Open a light on the CPU, trigger signal, a sampler for example (you don't even have to load any samples in it, just use the sine wave) and route the output of that sample to a buss (say buss 10). Then disable the output of buss 10 so the actual sine wave tone, does not go to the master out.
Then insert a noise gate plug in the track that you wish to gate and set the sidechain input to buss 10.
So everytime you trigger the sampler channel, the gate will open and close at the note off at your desired attack, hold, release settings.
Easy to get MIDI gates to a drum track (or anything else) without going to tedious editing as well.

Or get a drum sampler with a sequencer and individual out
And use nectarios method, old school

Or if you want the posford style a filter with midi trigger will do the same deal,,,,,,,,, gamma goblins

I need to read the threads more before posting, duh , whit a fudd          Â°Â°Â°ACTS 4:12°°°°

yeah, I know. have been doing that with Logic, that method and the ultrabeat sidechain thing which is also nice, since you can use multiple voices and the step thing to get it moving, with the included filters and all (like gamma goblins, except the filters are not as dope eheh). but besides the gate plug-in in Ableton, where I tend to work the way you talked about, was mainly looking for a more streamlined gating thingy - that you previous advice just nailed btw eheh.

this is because I've begin using those glitchy plug-ins again, and instead of converting to audio and chopping the shit out of them right away, been willing to experiment with different gate sequences on the go, while tweaking parameters on synths/controllers.

I like the ghost notes triggering stuff like you mention, but honestly don't know how to make the routings in Ableton pre-fader (like I would in Logic), so as to shut them up by disabling the output of that aux channel, or just bringing the volume completely down. Yeah, feel like a noob in Ableton, and that's actually boosted my creativity XD
