trance, dance, philosophy and the ego

My friends don't believe me when i say that trance dance is an effective tool to realize other states of consciousness , the true pure self and for lessening the ego.
They say its all about enjoying the music and it ends at that. their reasoning is that you might introspect a little about whatever it is that one philosophizes about but we do nothing the next day what we say in those altered states of consciousness
so my question is :
Does one come out a better person after an eye opening psycho spiritual/ metaphysical state achieved through trance dance meditation or is it just an illusion of the senses that we have changed and we haven't really achieved anything other than transient states ?

I can't say abt others bt I m fr sure came out as more calm nd pleasing personality....i would say much bettre persn thn before

What you say is ofcourse true.. this trance experience have been going on for generations before us, then lost alot of places.. Only with drums, sticks, chanting -> the beat, the dance, the fire, the psychedelics..
I think the same "effect" was reached..If its real for you and so many of us, there must be some truth ..
Just go for what you like, you dont have to force your "truth" to your friends.. Have your special crazy-insano-spiritual kicks with people from all over!

i believe (nowadays) that it is an illusion of the senses. but this is the biggest virtue of the trance dance experience - to realize that the sense CAN be cheated and to realize that there is more to reality than what you see with your normal eyes. so you know now that there are more perspectives of reality, you dont know which is the right one, but you know there are emore than one.
we all need new friends, that is why we are in the forums i guess ( well at least those of us who are not here to promote their products and festivals for the rest of us to buy).
btw of course we havent achieved anything else than transient states.  we just achieved a better position of the solar plexus chakra:)) - it means we are not so much stuck into THE ONE AND ONLY vision ot the world as prescribed by materialism and science but we know now that there are numerous realities that exist and are exactly as real. and this is the main thing i personally got from the trance experience. not a superior knowledge but a superior understanding of reality.
i dont think that i ve become a better person after opening my solar plexus for other perspectives. but i just became more open for ideas that can be against the popular idea of what is what....
hugs to you and dont cry about anything. if you find one friend among 100000 persons then you dont really need the rest of the 99999.

I've never really bought the whole dance meditation nonsense.
I think what people forget with pyschedelics is they were originally used in the modern sense as brain washing agents.
I've never met any kid that took acid at a college house party and had a hallucination of the buddha. The only time that thing happens the person already expects to find such a thing.
If anything, the entire "philosophy" of modern pyschedelic use goes back to Huxley and Tim Leary's handywork with brainwashing people's expectations in the 60s...
It could have gone any way before that...If both had been really in JR Tolkien the hippies and psy parties today would have probly looked like ren faires. People would have had "visions" of finding the ring and thought they accomplished something. Everyone would have taken the Lord of the Rings trilogy to be some great sign of the progress the world is making towards the "truth"..
What we have instead is no more true than if the above had happened. The only difference is the brain washing went down an eastern religious path.
I've always found it quite ammusing too anyone who looks down on people taking pyschedelics to "just" party..as opposed to "serious" exploration, to "loosen the ego"...
As if that is anything more than stroking the ego. |
