It doesn't. I was responding the general sentiment that some artists have sold out to make lots of money doing commercial music--a common argument that comes up every now and then.

Incidentally, Braincell is truly awesome.

Lets just get the genre´s sorted and we can continue in peace

Growling Mad Scientists going from psychedelic trance to Ibiza trance(maybe more uplifting trance, but they live on ibiza ) and Infected Mushroom going from psychedelic trance to electro beats to now some sort of vocal trance..im not following them so cant say. i know GMS has lots of side projects which is more psychedelic than the others.

maybe some artists changes style but keep the project name(as its already famous)
and we can argue what is psychedelic or not but i guess its each to their own... but really to me it sounds like lots of psychedelic trance is not "psytrance" but actually some other sort of Sub genre to trance

"Trance music is broken into a large number of genres. Chronologically, the major genres are Classic trance, Acid trance, Progressive trance, and Uplifting Trance. Uplifting Trance is also known as "Anthem trance", "Epic trance", "Stadium trance" or "Euphoric trance". Closely related to Uplifting Trance is Euro-trance, which has become a general term for a wide variety of highly commercialized European dance music. Several subgenres are crossovers with other major genres of electronic music. For instance, tech trance is a mixture of trance and techno, Vocal Trance adds vocals and a pop-like structure to the songs, and Ambient trance is a mixture of ambient and trance. Balearic beat, which is associated with the laid back vacation lifestyle of Ibiza, Spain, is often called "Ibiza trance". Similarly, Dream trance is sometimes called "Dream House", and is a subgenre of relaxing trance pioneered by Robert Miles in the mid 90s.

Another important distinction is between European trance and Goa trance which originated in Goa, India around the same time trance was evolving in Europe. Goa trance was influential in the formation of Psychedelic Trance, which features spazzy, spontaneous samples and other psychedelic elements. Trance is also very popular in Israel, with psychedelic trance producers such as Infected Mushroom and Yahel Sherman achieving world wide fame. The Israeli subgenre called Nitzhonot is a mixture of psychedelic and uplifting trance."

And to argue more, i guess some sub genres or maybe even all genres has a commercial side where some artists are trying to make it more appealing to the mass, probably in order to reach a wider audience and in that manner get more gigs and sell more cd´s
And i guess that is in order to be able to live out of their work, generate some money from it. Now if they stay true to their passion of the art or not is a totally different question which only they can answer to...

Doesn't the bigger headliner usually get paid more? And don't these big headliners tend to play the type of full-on that we're lamenting about?
I could be wrong, and probably generalizing, but it seems like this is the case.

I definitely feel like a lot of psytrance music being played these days is not steady and spacey enough to really be "trance dance" music. not that it isn't made, but that people aren't playing it.

If any genre of music is suitable for "trance dance", in my opinion, it's techno.

I'm curious to know why.
Would like to hear from artists and DJs their thoughts. Labels too actually.

and some tech house. Even progressive these days is interrupted too often with breakdowns and buildups. What happened?
