the trance culture includes parties, clothing (sometimes), the happyness and the joy of the trancers and going into the music much more then people from other genres go (imho).

a wise man once said: "trance is a way of life"

ps. although i don't consider myself a part of the trance culture as my expirience in parties is poor and i'm a "junior" trancer (since 98) compared to some people here.

as a part of my english work i wrote something about the trance culture (it's not 100% accurate...) but it's good..
here is it:

The Israeli Trance Culture.

The Israeli trance culture combines components that came from different directions. One of the most important of them is with no doubt the culture of the 60’s, which defines that music also deals with culture. In the 60’s,
Music Performances for a lot of young people were widely exist. And some of the culture motives in the 60’s (such as the connection of the music to the values of “Peace & Love” or the use of bright psychedelic colors) moved to the trance culture and implements an important role there. The connection of the trance culture with the age of the 60’s became stronger also because of the feeling of fighting of “The Authorities against the young people”, that in the 60’s and the 70’s caused to a wide gap between the generations, that sometimes lead also to violent clashes, and today it characterizes the trance culture and focusing around the activities of the police against the parties.

Another component of the Israeli trance culture is the connection with the east cultures, and especially India. This component not only expresses in importing the parties culture in India and Thailand but also in its signs and contents. Common decorations in parties are big and colorful “Long” canvases, which are made in India and decorated with illustrations of Indian gods and the unity symbol – the OHM, which looks like this:
These motives also appear on party flyers, trancers’ clothes, trance discs or vinyls and more. The names of the trance labels, artists and tracks are also inspirited from India – Shiva Space Technology, Shakta, Goa Gil and more.
Another example for inspiration from India is the match of the rhythm and the musical textures to different hours of the day and the mood of the listener, which exist in the classic Indian music and also in the trance music.

Another component of the Israeli trance culture, which is also connected to the 60’s and mystic contents is the attitude for nature. Many trance parties are taking place in nature and not in clubs. The choice for making the parties in nature is connected to the preference of open places and nature elements. This preference is also expresses in the special meaning of making a full moon party (a preferred date to a party, influenced also by the Indian holiday board), or the sunrise, that is being expressed by special trance (morning trance) and special dances.
Besides the difference between the music that is being played in the nature and between the music that is played in nature parties, the people of the nature parties are often more friendly and believe in peace and love, the general atmosphere at a nature party is good. While in the club parties the people are more nervous and less friendly and sometimes violent. The atmosphere of the club parties is less good.

Another important component and maybe the most important one that affects the trance culture is the cyber (computer) culture, and its values and contents. Most if not all of the party flyers are being created in the computer using professional computer programs such as Photoshop and 3D Studio MAX. The most common graphic elements, which are used in trance party flyers, clothes and discs are the fractals. The fractals are taken from a computer-based geometry.
In addition the trance music is created using advanced computer software such as Cubase, Logic Audio, SoundForge, and VSTi’s, and with electronic equipment such as MIDI keyboards, analog and digital synthesizers, effect machines, mixers and more.
There also a lot of professional trance web sites, whose builders are trancers, which are both computer professionals and also active users in the trance culture.
All of these connections to the computer culture create a connection between the trance culture and the computer culture, 2 worlds that are both populated by young people.

There is a discrepancy between this connection and the connection of the trance culture to the 60’s because the 60’s culture had some bold anti-technology characteristics.
But this discrepancy apparently characterizes the revolution of the computer, which her technological resources (personal computer, internet) and also her content and culture were designed as a result of the 60’s movement.

Another component of the Israeli trance culture are characters of aliens, which account as a very popular subject in the cyber culture.
Aliens often appear on decorations of “Longs” and on trance clothes.
Maybe we can see that as an interest in extraterrestrial intelligent (that can be computerized too).
Or we can see that as an expression for the biological unity of the human race in an option for extraterrestrials, a unity that expresses also in the values of love and peace.
