I know right!!?!!? Techno can't possibly be psychedelic.

Indeed.
i think alot of trancers have an image in mind of techno being a scene of cokeheads.
and while coke is the favorite drug of alot of club goers, it doesnt mean shit regarding techno under the influence of psychedelics.
and trust me when i say, techno can be VERY psychedelic

We can see the change even in some of the milestones of trance like the new album by Raja and Benji - The Zap , it has a lot of techno - electro influence that i never thought I'd hear from the TIP house

Totally agreed!Techno can be enough psychedelic to pleasure you!As about Simon Posford making techno hm why not?Last time I saw Simon and Benji mixing back to back as Younger Brother they played and some techy/minimalistic tunes without loosing the Twisted feeling!

being an acid techno fan, I am actually happy to see that there's more guys doing this. Even I have made a technostyle tune, I'll post it eventually.

Trance is techno just as Goa was when it came out.. The music in hip hop is techno and just about all music that doesn't have actual organic musicians.
Take the chip of your shoulders if you think psytrance isn't techno or go back to school.
A laptop can make anyone a talented musician.. How hard can point, click, drag, copy and paste really get once you learn the programs? Now, techno.. i mean psytrance definitely was harder to compose in the earlier days but thanks cubase and so on for making it so easy to become an artist.. |

Basically, trance and techno have the same roots (being repetitive cycles of hypnotic beats), trance was more "cosmic", goa went ethno/ethnic/newage, with more industrial techno. It's like the reflection of modern culture for many of us, connected to big cities, but with the will to travel/more healthy life/deeper knowledge etc.
So, the comeback of techno to psyscene is not suprising =) Many current releases like "Free Cloud" are really deep and great..
We just have to notice when this trend goes way too much mainstreamed, so it'll be the time to find the new one |
