Trance and Tobacco Substances

I think that everyone would agree the usage, smoking in particular, of tobacco substances is wide in trance parties. This problem is extremely severe in closed places like clubs. However, it happened to me more then once, while I was dancing outdoors, that a small cloud of tobacco smoke reached me and - forced to breath - I inhaled some of it.

Scientists, health specialists, teachers and politicians all over the world are agreeing - tobacco smoke can cause serious problems: it's smell sticks to the fabric of our cloth and it can cause cancer. While I believe that everyone should be responsible for himself, the tobacco smoke seriously hurts other people in the party that are not necessarily tobacco users ("passive smokers") and their families (my mother has to wash my party outfit which always smells like cigarettes!)

Therefore I would like to ask all the tobacco users to take an example from the drug users that usually use their drugs quietly and privately - in their private cars or in the toilets for example, without any bother to the rest of the crowed. My suggestion excludes marijuana smokers because marijuana is a scientifically proven healthy substance (there are even medicines that are based on THC - no medicine is based on Nicotine) and has a fine odor.

I thank you.

some correction lostbraincell (cool name btw):
marijuana is no healthy substance, not only because of the contingent of tabacco in the joints and chillums which are used by the people.(specially a lot of the german people screw 50/50 contingent)

LostBrainCell, since you live in Germany, the laws are not in your favor, the nonsmoker. here in the US it is illegal to smoke inside resturants, clubs, pubs, bars, ANY public space. I use to suffer greatly from this issue as a nonsmoker myself and since then, things have gotten so much better for me with the enforcement of the new laws.
at first people said that this new law will not work, and that people must smoke in order to enjoy. this was obviously false, people get used to it, and now its a common thing to see folks taking there foul clouds of toxins outside with them in front of the venue. It is all a matter of how the govnt. enforces the laws it states.
In israel for example, it is illegal to smoke in public places indoors like malls (kenyonim) and such, the problem is nobody enforces those laws, so in effect you cannot expect the public to obey laws that arent enforced.

its a tough issue, but i beleive that europe is on the way to outlawing public indoor smoking soon.

addendum:
It is wonderful to come home after a hard night of Syntax & Whiskey at the bar and smell your clothes and have them only smell of cheap women and booz instead of cigarettes.

The smell of smoke of marijuana may be ok but the smell it leaves on your clothes is just like tobacco.

Also, as Kitnam said, marijuana joint have tobbacco, so it does as bad as cigarretes plus the effect of thc.

Morphine is also used medicinally for example, and is not a healthy substance, you cannot say that if a thing is used medicially it means it is healty, It might help on fixing some problem in your body, but that doesn't make it a healty thing, it also has negative sides. Antidepressives are also used medicinally and are not healty at all, just like most chemical medicines....

About the nicotine thing, I understand what you mean, but I thing its a bit exagerated....just like in US or UK where you basically can't smoke anywhere, and they almost make you feel like a criminal by doing so...I think thats a bit too much....but I respect what you say, its definetelly not pleasant to be in closed places full of smoke....

But if you critisize the tobacco smoke I think you can't accept the marijuana smoke....its just has unhealty of worst....

FluoSamsara, i agree with you that any smoke to the lungs is harmful, whether it be cigarettes, joints, firewood, artillery range, or car exhaust.          "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

When laws like the law in California that make teenagers and their parents criminals if the teens smoke a cigarette on the street then the laws have gone to far in the name of justice!

Where's people's rights to choose themselves? Well nothing surprice me about USA law making Anyway back to topic. Tobacco is very unhealthy and so is the tobacco you put in the weed. And for some weed can be a negative thing too and litterally turn a ok life into a tragedy. There's many traps in this world... It's all about personal choice and of course not to harm other people or put them in a situation where they risk their health like passive smoking does.

A side note. If I am in a room where you can cut a knife through the air from weed smoking I get an allergic reaction.

You're talking about NYC laws, not US-wide laws, which don't exist. Each municipality has the right to enact anti-smoking laws - some of them do (especially the more 'progressive' cities and states) and some don't. In Denver, for example, you can still smoke pretty much anywhere...

cheers

hehe.. don't mention it. I am just happy for whatever regional autonomy we still have in the US.. it really helps preserve local culture, and that's very important, imo. even if that culture seems 'uncool' to us.

but this is off-topic.

In South Africa we also have those same laws where you cant smoke in public indoor areas.

At the parties though the smokers respect the non and make a point of having their smokes or joints away from the dancefloor. In the chill areas ppl sometimes dont, but then you just dont sit near them. Another thing is when I used to go to pubs (dont drink alcohol at all now) I used to come home smelling like an ashtray and it was disgusting. Plus I think that I am allergic to tobacco cause everytime some smoke comes passed me my nose blocks and I my eyes water. Nasty stuff!           :: Life can be as bitter as dragon tears
But whether dragon tears are bitter or sweet
depends entirely on how each man perceives the taste ::
