Hey guys.
I'm having problems to set up Traktor with Audiophile 2496. The card has one stereo out which I use with the master channel. Now, do u have any idea how can I use the S/PDIF out for monitiring - that is, pluging in the headphones to the digital out. If it is possible, what kind of adapter would I need to connect the 1/4 headphones jack to S/PDIF ?
Thank you for your help.
Leon.

I wondered myself and even asked some one about it and got a negative answer. I didn't tried it myself and i don't trust much the man i asked, cause he was under influence
As for adapter i wanted to use my Creative Live Digital sound card. It has S/PDIF as well. It should get the monitoring signal and route it to the analog 1/4 output.

You can't plug analog equipment into a digital output.
Aren't there 2 stereo outputs on the audiophile?

So no. You can't. Unless you have a D/A converter, but those cost money.

Tnx for the replies guys.
Do you think there are other ways to make it work?
Do you know if I can use the onboard sound codec (AC97) for the monitiring ?
Thanks again,
Leon.

That might work, since it is considered as a seprate audio device.

AFAIK, you can route traktor's output only to 1 sound card. So if you have multi channel interface you are fixed, if not, you are screwed.
But!
If you really want this option you can buy very cheap Creative Live Digital card (40~50 $) and after little hack you could also use it's spare outputs for monitoring needs. If you'll buy the sound card, let me know. I'll tell you what to do in order to enable this function.

Guys, what u think about the following idea:
I have the Realtek ALC655 codec on my Gigabyte 8ik1100 board, which has S/PDIF I/O.What if I'd rout the monitor channel from S/PDIF OUT on the Audiophile to S/PDIF IN on the Realtek, and then plug in the headphones to the 1/4 out jack in the Reaktek??? Do u think that might work ?
Do u know what kind of cable would i need to connect S/PDIF output to input ?
Hope i didnt confuse u
Tnx,
Leon

SPDIFs are usually RCA I think. Mine is anyway.
That might work - try and see.

yes you can do it.. im using it this way
get a driver called ASIOx or ASIO4ALL
and than setup traktor so the audiophile will be the master and the ac97 will be in the headphones
ASIOx works great for me with traktor

If you buy a mixer aaaaaaaaaaall of your troubles will dissapear ! Use External mixer and Traktor works Fine ! Connect the Stereo Outputs to the mixer and the monitors to your mixer . Then Your headphones to the mixer and USe the External mixer option to Traktor . Perfectly setuped for Action . Invest 100euro to a mixer that have EQ too so you can mix properly !! Happy mixng ! P.S Any other option with Traktor with this card is crap . Believe me ...
