recently i started to Dj and i found Traktor Dj the most awesome piece of software ever made .... but i just have 1 question .... is it ok to play with traktor dj @ parties where im invited to play .... i mean what impression does it make , for a dj playing on a laptop .... not mentioning the kickass quality mixing i do ....

i mean , mixing , song selection and flow are the main aspects right ? what diffferenc should it make if i dj on pioneers or traktor dj ??

Hmmm.. Well dude first hand Experince ... i was looked at wit weird angles when i played at my first party thru my Pc

Well its actually a matter of choice... i still do play a lot wit my traktor... but thing is it has limited things u can do wit ..on Pioneers or any other palyers i think u can do a lot lot more... but tracktor shud not be disrespected cos of this .

playin for fun is cool but at actuall parties i guess u better play on players.

On the other hand ... 60 % of Djs dont mix ( psy)
outta remaining 40 only 5 % play good mixes.

chose ur own pad n make it perfect

I guess i answer wat most ppl think ... or is it ?

i know a friend that kills mixing in traktor (and when i say he kills, i mean he kills)... he has done things like a 5hr dj set without failing (just some slight beat-mismatch)... last time he played he used a CDJ together with traktor, mixing in a mixer. the CDJ quality was way better than the Traktor's... mixing from CDJ to traktor sounded horrible...

so imagine this on a PA

i love traktor too... i don't know if this was a soundcard problem... maybe someone with those pro cards can test this.

We use Traktor sometimes in our live sets and in general the quality is absolutely fine. You need to make sure you use high-quality timestretching to get the best out of it but even then it still fucks with the transients a bit - you can sometimes hear it flamming when you pitch tracks up, even when you don't push it too far.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

i use traktor 2.5 with my lap and indigo dj souncard 24 bit, and when i mix with cdjs, the outpt of my indigo is way better (maybe because the other djs cds are downloaded mp3) , this and external mixer... i dont think is inferior to cdjs in anyway... use what u feel confortable. i also feel fine mixing with pioneer cdj800.           www.soundcloud.com/elektroakustica/sets/downtempo/

well i dont really like seeing a DJ using Traktor
it just makes me think he downloaded the mp3s

i would rather see a DJ playing with the real CDs.

i mean, if u buy all the CDs, whats the point of using Traktor?
You would have to convert all your CD to WAV and carry around a laptop.
Its more work, more trouble, and more expensive than a pair of CDJ100.
The only advantage is you dont have to beatmatch, a DJ should learn that anyways!!
Besides its more fun and rewarding to mix it yourself than pressing a button to automix for u...

just wait for the 3.0 version, its going to kill... 4 decks, effects...

"i mean, if u buy all the CDs, whats the point of using Traktor?"

try using your imagination a bit, the filters for instance not to mention instant uber dj beatmatching skills.

I use CDs for my Djing - that works best for me.

However, I dont see why DJs should be frowned upon for using a PC and software to make their mixes. As long as the mixing is top notch and the audioquality doesnt suffer too much, its just fiiiine with me.

Its a good way to get some DJing experience without having to invest in expensive gear.

So, especially for Djs & organizers who might be totally underground and low budget, traktor offers a lot if they learn to use the program correctly.

All in all, if it works it works - so I see no reason why not to use it. Just keep an eye out for audio quality - only thing that matters in djing is what music comes out of the PA. The rest is superficial and irrelevant.

Best Wishes

why is that almost everypsy dj has this obsession with the 100s of course ive mixed with them,, and they are ok. but seems to me that cdjs 100 are almost glorified in the psyscene, whats with them that doesn hapen with the 800s or 1000s? amteur my as           www.soundcloud.com/elektroakustica/sets/downtempo/

what makes u think that the djs spinning cds on cdjs 100 didnt download their tracks too.
and there is a lot more to mixing in psy than beatmatching, this is not techno.

Hi m8!

With a pc in ur set u have ALWAYS MUCH MUCH more possibilities than only with cdjs.

Try also progs like MixMeister Pro or DSS. They have some more potence than the actual traktor.

Traktor DJ is interesting, but i think it is a pity if a DJ only uses that and doesnt mix manually, takes some of the creativity out of it, but for sure its a great program.          Cytopia.org
