As u all may know, traktor 3 has been released. It has many interesting features, some of them go beyond the capabilities of most cd/vynil players, and the new mixer, an emulation in cooperation with Allen & Heath, 4 chanel mixer, 4 decks, effects and assignable lfo filters. Im will have no problem on changing from cd to this software, with a P4 laptop, Indigo dj souncard(2 stereo outputs) and evolution uc midi controller. I know many people out there will problably think doing a dj set via software is "cheating" and not professional, so i would like to know what opinions, pros and cons u may think of. I personally love the 24 bit/48.000Khz sound of my echo indigo, and now with traktor 3, i woulnt change it for cdjs.
heres a link to traktor:

It is not cheating it is a step forward coz software is much more powerful than (most) hardware.

For me it is ok and as I see on the partys more and more laptops. I think that people start realaising thet software in now days have much more options then a hardwer but also good sound and quality as hardwer. So if you think that your set will sound bether just do it.
And alwayse remember don't take to hart what will others say just sound good if you like to mix on sound forge do it.
Never let computers to win a game! :)

i dont know about this... dont think that playing cd's mastered in 16bit-44khz in 48kz 24bit makes any diffrence... it doesnt to my knowledge - unless youre playing your own 24/32 bit tracks with your own mastering.
im pretty fond of mixing real cd's, it take a bit of a talent to do it right and nicely and in a cool way - and this..... it takes it away from u.
ill pass.

ok, I have a beef with traktor; Since I haven't tried the new version I don't know if the sync algorithm has been improved but in the last version it suxx0r! I can spot it out every time and it annoys me much worse than the clicking when a DJ tries to mix with the master tempo button on. Sync worked by cueing up the beats and if one of the tracks was off it would compensate by cutting some of the time off the slow track. How utterly annoying! They should be gradually slowing down the tempo until the bpms of the two tracks are in sync; not letting them creep back out.
I'd never trade cdjs.. at least not yet-- and a fraunhoffer decoder? I'm going MAD

No,really guys.....why is that you got more talent pressing a play button on a cdJ or pressing a start button on your evolution Xsession controller?
Sorry but i really cant stand that kind of comments.....
I spin vinyls, use cdj and Traktor (since its first release) and i never felt you need more talent to use one rather than the other. But if i really want to point out something,it will always be much more difficult to mix with vinyls than any other format.period.

traktor DJs are boring
maybe i havent seen a really good one yet
but they always lack soul
too worried about their computer display to look at the audience and get lost in the music.
i dunno tho for some types of music it serve it purpose but not "lets get crazy and dance" music

I'm not very fond of software based DJ tools, because they don't require much of a brain power to compile a mix, there's simply no challenge, no sweat involved...
mixing on records (vinyl) requires dedication, discipline, hard work, opposed to software that does not.

Mixing with computers is a new technology that is just starting to take it's foothold, and just like CDJS were laughed at 8-10 years ago, it took the people getting used to the new options, which made the work a bit more easy, but it's still the same means. i have looked into many computer DJ applications and none of them choose the songs for you and mix/beatmatch them automatically. They all require "dedication, hard work, and discipline" no matter what tools you are using to get the job done right.
that you are fond of one medium and have learned it well enough to feel confortable with it, and allow you do the things you want to, is no excuse to discredit other technologies. Otherwise you can always feel old school and go back to vinyl notice however the trend in this scene seems to be moving on the opposite direction. At the end of the day isn't the psy-trance community about technocrats embracing the latest trends to apply them to our means?
people we're mixing with DAT's in the old goa days and that seemed just fine. the excuse there is "nah, man it was about the journey"
no i have not used traktor before, but i am however interested to see what they have put together... let's open our minds a bit to new alternatives
